Meet Yadiry Mondragon | Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yadiry Mondragon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yadiry, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind Verzatile was the idea of women feeling great and confident about themselves. We handpick and design our styles with the idea of a destination and a purpose. Whether you’re traveling or lounging at home we have versatile styles and designs for you. Our exclusive Verzatile merchandise are unisex designed and are intentionally designed to motivate you and remind you to not give up. Our styles are designed only for the Verzatile.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets us apart from everyone is that everything is designed with intent and purpose. We try to keep in mind where you might be going, whether it’s work or a trip to Tulum we have the style for you. We’re all unique and different. When you shop with Verzatile you’re allowing us to be apart of your uniqueness and your lifestyle. We get excited when customers come from different cities and stop by our pop ups. We can’t help but to feel honored and grateful.
They’re was definitely a lot of strategizing as to where we wanted to pop up and what markets we wanted to be apart of. With that came a lot of trial and error. It was definitely a whole learning cycle and second to one of our biggest lessons learned. I think one of our biggest lesson is not giving up when hard times come. The moment we give up is the moment our dream comes to an end and we’ve come so far to give up. There’s been situations just where the event coordinators have to cancel the market due to weather or when you go in to a market thinking you’re going to make sales and you end up making none. Sometimes it’s discouraging, but when you see someone tagging your business it only motivates you and inspires you more to pursue your dream.
I guess that’s what I want the world to know. To not give up when you’re feeling discouraged and to continue working on your dreams. I have two kids, a boy and a girl and that’s going to be my advice to them, to not give up. My daughter was born with Mosiac Down Syndrome and even though it’s been a uphill battle at times, its only motivated me more to work harder, to spread awareness and connect with other families as well. Which lead to the idea of making motivational designs with my husband. One of them being our “Life’s a Garden. Dig It” which features Frog and Toad riding a bike with a garden background. Frog and Toad are characters from my childhood readings that teaches us the ups and downs about life. The message behind it, no matter where the plant is planted it will blossom no matter the environment it is in. With that being said I want parents to know that there not alone. Their are programs that can help our kiddos live a fulfilling life, for example Abs Kids, who help our children on the spectrum with ABA. There’s also, Autism & The Arts Initiative that provide free art classes for children on the spectrum in Temecula and SoCal.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a sucker for an adventure. Our first stop would be in Riverside to hike Mount Rubidoux from there we’ll take mission all the way to Jurupa to stop and eat Birria Villabos, a growing gourmet Tijuana style food truck. We will then head out to Temecula. We’ll stop by our friends ByCrystalRose to get our facial and lashes for our trip to San Juan Capistrano Mission Inn and Niguel Botanical Preserve. There we would stop to eat at El Adobe de Capistrano, the ceviche is a must have. After our stay at San Juan Capistrano, heading back home, we will be stopping at Akash Winery to enjoy the best wine, the best view with hot air balloons, and the most beautiful sunsets in SoCal. We’ll be ending our week enjoying the beautiful views and mountains at 123 Farms in Beaumont, which offers the best Lavender Mojitos and handmade organic products.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow, where do I begin. There’s so many people that are helping me in this journey. I first want to thank God for everyone that He’s put in my path. My husband Mark Chapman for taking the time with helping at the Pop-Ups and also being our graphic designer. Thanks babe. There’s also my mom, my in-laws, and aunt. My mom, Yadira Mondragon let’s us use the truck on the weekends to be apart of markets and grow our business. While we’re popping-up our kiddos are being taken care of by my in-laws Karen and Mark Chapman, and aunt Denice. They’re all truly a blessing and play a crucial role in Verzatile. There’s also my friends Mary, Monique and Stephanie who constantly remind me to not give up and who give me constructive criticism. Thank you guys! Every single one of you. They’re truly the dream team and we couldn’t do it without them.
