Meet Xochitl Lopez | Business owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Xochitl Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Xochitl, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is “Women are never, at any age, too old or too young to learn about something new that makes them feel empowered”
I love and live by this quote. There’s no schedule or timeline that we all must follow. It is your life, on your own terms. You are never too old or too young to learn about something new that makes you feel empowered.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Simplemente Chingona is a lifestyle brand that was created with the vision of empowering women. Our collections reflect the strong, bold, beautiful women that we are, while embracing our culture at the same time. The word Chingona wasn’t always perceived as a word of empowerment. In fact, it was considered a derogatory term used to describe women in a negative way. That is no longer the case. Today, the word Chingona is used to describe a strong, confident, powerful women.
We are much more than just a lifestyle brand, we are a community. Together we are creating connections and sharing opportunities. This year we are hosting our first Las Chingonas Market. This market will be showcasing local women-owned businesses, crafters, and artists. Las Chingonas Market will take place on Sunday, March 6 at FEMX Quarters from 12-5pm.
Like any other business, we have encountered some challenges but with the love and support of our community we have overcome those obstacles. We are excited to see our community grow and we are looking forward to another great year ahead.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego is such a beautiful city with so much to do and see. It is always fun to have friends and family visit and spend time with them.
Morning- A beautiful hike at Torrey Pines with amazing views.
Breakfast- Morning Glory for belly fried rice and French toast.
Afternoon- Walk around Barrio Logan and do some shopping at Art Hub in support of local small business and artists.
Lunch: Salud for authentic Mexican street tacos and ice cream with churros for dessert.
Evening- Balboa Park, visit a few museums and enjoy a coffee from Prado Perk.
Dinner: King and Queens Cantina for delicious food, fun drinks, and good vibes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a huge shoutout to my beautiful mother, Carmen. She is my inspiration for Simplemente Chingona. Learning her childhood story and all the challenges she faced growing up, inspired me to start my lifestyle brand. When I look at my mother, I see a strong, beautiful woman. A woman that did not give up during difficult times. Instead, she fought back and kept moving forward. She is my real life hero, my number one support, and biggest hype woman.
