We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Houston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I ever had to make was to start over in a new City. After 2020 all service provider industries we shut down due to the pandemic. San Francisco where I was working and living. was particularly strict. I had only had my first child 12 months earlier. My husband and I moved to North County San Diego where we had more family support. Its was extremely heartbreaking to leave a city that I loved and had spent 9 years working on building a sold cliente.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve been an esthetician for over 15 years, starting my career doing facials and learning all aspects of skincare. A turning point came when I moved to San Francisco and worked for Benefit Cosmetics, where I learned how to execute the perfect brow. That experience ignited my passion for brow artistry and taught me the importance of precision and detail.

Today, I run my own business in a coastal community in Oceanside California. What truly sets me apart is the personal relationships I’ve developed with my clients over the years. I don’t just shape brows — I help people feel confident and beautiful in their own skin.

It hasn’t always been easy. Moving cities, building a new clientele from scratch, and navigating the ups and downs of being self-employed have all been challenges. But I overcame them through persistence, continuing education, and staying true to my commitment to high-quality, personalized service.

I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me and the loyalty that has grown from those connections. The biggest lessons I’ve learned are that authenticity and genuine care go a long way, and that success comes from loving what you do.

I want the world to know that my business isn’t just about beauty — it’s about making people feel seen, valued, and confident every time they walk out my door.”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting me in Oceanside, I’d want them to experience all the things that make this town so special. We’d definitely spend time walking or biking along The Strand and hanging out on the beach, maybe even lounging by the pool at The Seabird Resort for a little bit of luxury and ocean views.

Food-wise, I’d take them to Dija Mara for incredible Indonesian-inspired dishes, and Allmine Pizza for amazing sourdough pies. We’d hit up the Sunset Market for live music, street food, and local vendors — it’s one of my favorite weekly events.

We’d check out live music at Shoots Fish & Beer, explore the Oceanside Museum of Art, and wander through the local shops and murals downtown. And of course, I’d make sure we had plenty of time for good coffee and breakfast burritos at bound Coffee. spontaneous beach days, and just enjoying the laid-back vibe that makes Oceanside feel like home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I first started my career as an esthetician I worked for a small salon and spa on the central coast. when moved to San Francisco I worked for a major brand Benefit Cosmetics. It was such a fast paced environment like I had never experienced. It was esthetician boot camp. I would not have the confidence I do today in the work that I do without having that experience. I met so many great people there who all taught me so much. From technical skills and working with people. We had so much fun! It was a great experience.
