Meet Veronica Clay | Digital Marketer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Clay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For me, I wanted to set myself up with an additional stream of income. I’ve seen far too often how devastating it can be to rely on one source of income and have that be taken away, so I never want to be in that position.
I also love the creative freedom that can come with owning your own business. I can create something that is 100% authentic to me and that is the fun in this. And if you aren’t having fun, why do it at all?
Lastly, I started my own business to allow more freedom to be with my kids. That may sound counterintuitive but that is the beauty of selling digital products. Aside from the initial startup time, sales can be passive and are dependent on the time you put into it. I can put in as much or as little time as I want and work around my kids schedule.
As a working mom of two who still works a corporate 9-5, I have to be thoughtful of the time I do have, so starting an online business selling digital products was the ideal route for me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Digital One-Stop Shop (D.O.S.S.) is an educational resource for anyone that wants to explore earning money online.
My mission is to be the “one stop shop” to get the resources one needs to start creating and selling their own digital products.
What I’m most proud of with this endeavor is that it is educating people to no longer rely on just one source of income. I want people, especially working moms, to have a backup plan or backup stream of income, in case they get laid off from their corporate job, or in a working mom’s case, they decide to take a step back to be more present with their kids.
A decision that can’t be made lightly for most families in today’s economy, unfortunately.
The course and products on The D.O.S.S. all focus and teach basic to high-level digital skills from how to create digital products, sell and market using social media tools, “nurture marketing” through email automations and more.
Skills that everyone should learn and know in this digital era we are in.
After 10+ years as a digital marketer, I decided to take all the skills I’ve learned in the field, and compile them into one place so that others can learn the same, and start their own digital business from anywhere.
What sets me apart from others is majority of my digital products comes with a license that allows my students to resell my products as their own.
The reason I decided to do this was because I wanted to ease my students concerns around the “getting started” step. If they had a ready-made product at their finger tips, that would open their eyes to the opportunities and potential for when they start creating their own.
Getting to the place I’m at now in my career and with my business has been a roller coaster, but absolutely worth it so that I can continue to work online while also being available for my kids.
I just want that same financial flexibility for others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a north county girl, so I don’t venture south of Del Mar often, but I do I love exploring Coronado. It’s very nostalgic for me having grown up in a navy family and to me, it’s just quintessential San Diego.
But my heart lies in north county. I grew up in Encinitas and now live in Oceanside so I love to play along the coastline.
My favorite morning is one where I meet friends for coffee at Swami’s in Encinitas, walk the strand and down the Swami’s stairs and along the beach.
And now that I live in Oceanside, we have our standard go-to spots come evening time like Craft Coast for incredible tacos, Bottlecraft, Shootz or LTH. Oceanside’s food scene is becoming next level! And you can’t beat watching the sunset down at the pier over a high-pie from the Top Gun house.
Some weekends, my husband and I will go camping out in the desert east of borrego and it always fascinates me that living in San Diego we have access to the beach, the desert, and mountains. We truly have it all and I love showing that off to friends that come to town!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The women in my family have always been my inspiration when it comes to entrepreneurship, pursuing careers, and being financially independent, all while balancing the hardest and most important job of all: motherhood.
My Nonna was multi-lingual, a teacher, and mother to 5.
My mom was a speech pathologist for 40+ years in the schools and is the most dedicated mother to her 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren.
My two older sisters are both career women and the most present mothers I know.
It’s in my blood and I wouldn’t have learned the art of balancing it all if I didn’t have the graceful examples that I do.
