Meet Tremain Josie | Artist & Creative Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tremain Josie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tremain, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always been a creative person in general. I have an overactive imagination and love seeing my ideas come to life. Music just so happened to be the thing I was consistent with most of my life and I’m continuously getting better at. It’s also a good thing because so many other creative things can branch off from it so while I excel at my main craft, I can grow into another.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a rapper and producer by the name of Uncle TreY. I’ve been rapping since I was 13 and really became more serious about it when I turned 22. Consistency got me to where I am today. Anyone will tell you that being a rapper or making any music for that matter, isn’t an easy route. It’s an over-saturated one in which you’re more than likely to be overlooked. What drives me isn’t a desire to be “famous”, though. I just want more people to listen to my music and to hold me in high regard for my craft. A few years ago I started selling merch with my slogan ‘None Better’ and my snowflake logo and it was a hit. I took a break for about a year and plan on releasing my next album within a few months and hopefully more merch to follow it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One place that I recently found out about is Suyo in The Bronx. They have really good food and nice strong drinks.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First of all, shout-out to Markeisha Brown for shouting me out in this! I also want to acknowledge my brand BetterThanMusic LLC that I’m currently working on rebuilding. And certainly show love to all my family, friends and anyone else who has supported me along my journey. It means more than you know.
