We had the good fortune of connecting with Tirzah F. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tirzah, what do you attribute your success to?
Customer service is essential for any business, but we treat our customers like a good friend who is trusting us with their business. Thus, we believe in going above and beyond for our customers. We do this by creating a personal relationship with them through speedy replies, easy solutions to their problems and creating luxury products that can be used by everyday people. We believe that you shouldn’t have to settle for subpar customer service just because big cooperations have made it a new industry standard. This is why we strive to put our customers first and because of this we have a faithful returning customer base. Loyalty cannot be bought; it must be earned.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our mission from the very beginning has been to provide organic and natural candles and products for everyday people. We believe that you shouldn’t have to use chemical ladened candles and products to enjoy a room filled with beautiful and refreshing scents. Our candles are made from 100% organic beeswax, coconut oil and essential oils. We use small lists of readable ingredients, so you don’t have to stress about what you are bring into your home. As a Mother and a holistic-minded person, I know how important this is.

It has taken some trial and error, some joys and difficult moments, but I am so proud to have this business where I can provide an experience that goes beyond buying a candle. We are a business who cares about our customers, and we know the power of scents. Scents can hold memories, emotions and aromatherapy qualities. This is why we strive to provide a respite from daily life by giving our customers tools to fill their homes with a relaxing Lavender scent or an exotic Ylang Ylang scent at an affordable price.

Our simple, minimalistic label designs are perfect for men and women of all ages. We understand that the scent industry can has a feminine leaning and we wish to break that mold by making our candles appealing to all! Our branding is intentional has a tropical feeling to reflect the beautiful city of San Diego, which we are based in and inspire our customers to take a small vacation from day to day life!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
San Diego has so much incredible food and places to visit! We live in Pacific Beach which is a short drive to tons of amazing adventures.

Day 1: Start the day off at Nomad Donuts in North Park with a delicious breakfast sandwich and coffee and yes, a doughnut (of course)! Then head to the Sunset Cliffs for a picnic from Trader Joes. and finally go to The Pomegranate in Hillcrest for a lovely Georgian dinner with Pomegranate wine.

Day 2: Eat breakfast at Crown Point Coffee and walk along the path around Crown Point. Spend the afternoon in Crown Point Park and watch the boats come and go. Head over to Pho Minh for huge bowl of Pho.

Day 3: Spend the day at Law Street beach to watch the surfers and swim in the ocean. Drive to Filippi’s Pizza Grotto in Pacific Beach.

Day 4: Go to Konito’s Cafe for a quick breakfast and then head to Balboa Park to go to the Japanese friendship garden. Have dinner at Sushi Kuchi in Pacific Beach for dinner.

Day 5: Go to Walking on Water Cafe on the Ocean beach Pier and then explore the Ocean Beach Tide Pools. Then head to Mr.Frostie in Pacific Beach for a taste ice cream sundae. Then have dinner at the Ocean Beach farmer’s market.

Day 6: Spend the Morning and afternoon at Kate Sessions Park with a picnic and watch the sunset over Mission Bay and then head to Karami Ramen on Convoy for a tasty bowl of ramen.

Day 7: Head to the beach by the Hotel Del for some scenic shots. and finally have dinner at The Marine Room in La Jolla for one last decadent meal!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Parents and my Husband deserve a huge amount of credit for helping me get to where I am today. If it wasn’t for their love and support, I don’t know if I could have started this business! My Parents have been so supportive with helping me stay inspired and encouraged even when I didn’t feel like my business was getting very much recognition. Both of my Parents are entrepreneurs and their own efforts in their businesses have been a huge spark that kindled my fire to start a business!

My husband also helps me stay inspired with new ideas and telling me to keep going even when the times get tough! He helped me make and get orders out when our sweet baby was born a few months ago so I didn’t have to close my Etsy shop. Even when business was slow after the holidays, he encouraged me to keep going and I am so thankful he did!
