Meet Timothy Harris | Executive Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Timothy Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Timothy, why did you pursue a creative career?
I choose an artistic and creative career because it is simply my first nature. It gives me a chance to share my heart. The freedom to create endless art on a vessel with food that people can not only experience by visuals but also by consuming and becoming one with the creation itself just my sets my soul free.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a professional chef with 14 years of experience in the Culinary world. I studied at the Art Institute of California where I then worked in several types of kitchens around San Diego, including the #1 resort in America, The Grand Del Mar where I worked at for 2 years. Then went on to work for a French Master Chef at his restaurant “Ponsaty” in the wealthiest neighborhood in San diego. From there expanded my cooking expertise in family homes where I fell in love cooking and interacting with others. I am an organized and efficient chef and stay calm under pressure. I cook many different styles of cuisine and my passion and learning never stops. I am fully knowledgeable in the safe handling of food and i understand how to adapt foods and tastes to different diets and cultures. Received a bronze medal from the ACF (American Culinary Federation) in a cooking competition. I Specializing in healthy eats with fresh ingredients that come from the farm to your table. Always researching ways to enhance services with new recipes and new plating styles. Cooking exceptional meals for others is my way of giving to the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would first go to the best coffee shop in San Diego which is James coffee co. Followed by a trip to pacific beach to have lunch at the pacific beach fish shop. After a day in the sun we would eat dinner at one of the top restaurants in town, Herb & Wood

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize my best friend Chef Jarick Henderson, for without him I would not be where I am today as a chef. It is him who guided me through life helping my find my way as a chef.
