We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Brose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Without taking risks, there’s no way I’d be where I am today. I feel like whenever you’re passionate about something, you’ll do whatever it takes no matter the cost. Passion is inspiring— it knows no borders and isn’t afraid to be vulnerable. Passion is the fuel for risk taking, and in my opinion, risks are what usually lead to the greatest successes.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I grew up in a small town in South Carolina, and took my first flight at the age of 18 when I moved to New York City to pursue a modeling career. I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technoloy 4 years later, met my husband, and started traveling any chance I could between fit modeling. In 2015 I decided to start a blog to share my passions of style + travel, and in 2017, my husband and I decided to quit our jobs in New York, sell all of our belongings, and move across the world to Bali to pursue content creation full time. We had no idea if it was possible for us, how we would do it, or even what to do next— but we took the risk anyways. We spent the next 3 years living out of suitcases and traveling the world full time working for fashion + travel brands from all over, and truly living out our dreams. We moved back to the US in 2020 to start a family and currently live in Costa Mesa, California with our 2 children: Nusa (2.5yrs old) and Lido (6 months old). Life looks a lot different in many ways, but even better than we could’ve imagined. We now own a creative studio, League Creative Co, sell some of our art prints, and still work as content creators traveling any chance we get. We just spent a week in Mexico for a project with Marriott Resorts and before that spent 3 weeks in France. If there’s anything I’ve learned throughout the years it’s that you get to create the life you want to live, and that is such a beautiful + important responsibility.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our favorite thing to do when we are home and not traveling is to go to the beach. We love checking out the different coves in Laguna— they are also great for kids! Crescent Bay is a beach we go to time and time again, and love grabbing lunch at Active Culture or Banzi Bowls afterwards. Another favorite of ours is heading to Lido Marina Village first thing in the morning for coffee at Herst and a pastry at Rye Goods. We love walking around the area to shop and check out the boats as well. Renting a Duffy boat is such a fun thing to do and then getting dinner at Malibu Farms or Zinqué.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Since the day that I met him, my husband has always been my biggest cheerleader and encourager. He not only supports my wildest dreams, but he’s also right beside me helping me chase them. I have him to thank for so much— he’s a creative genius, my best friend, and business partner.
