Meet Tanner Knight | Auto Motive Photographer & Real Estate Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanner Knight and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanner, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I Jumped into my Creative career in the midst of the pandemic and I did it because I was tired of working a job I hated, I wanted to be able to create my own job and do what I loved for an income, I took the plunge at a young age because I felt the earlier I started the higher chance of success I would have and the smaller chance of being stuck at a job to pay the bills.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Tanner Knight and I love to work with automotive photography, anything to deal with cars and I’m all over it, I personally love shooting at night and using my light around me to my advantage to pull focus onto specific areas of the car. I feel that something that puts me apart from other automotive photographers would be my use of light painting with cars, I feel like this style of photography is very unique and people tend to do it separately and not with cars but I love to mix and match the two styles to get one of a kind images. I feel like I have made substantial progress in my business since I have started but still have much to go to get where I would like to be. I think it has been one of the most difficult things I have ever done, when you take hours to get an image exactly where you want it to be and it doesn’t receive the credit you would like is crushing and when you first start it feels like everything you take pictures of could be better and more interesting, I feel that I still struggle with this but I would say the best way to overcome this challenge is simply to just keep going and keep learning and improving. The more you create the better you get and so if you get into a rut because you think your work isn’t exactly what you want I feel you need to keep trying and keep failing till you learn to capture what you want.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I feel like living in Southern California there are countless breath taking spots, but I would have to say my top few would have to be to get a California burrito and bring it out to the beach and watch the sunset over the ocean. I would highly recommend taking the day and just taking in the whole life style of the southern coast line and enjoy how life is lived here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shoutout a huge portion of the creative photography side of YouTube, without them I wouldn’t have been able to develop my skills and refine them to the point I have hit now. I feel that North Borders, Peter Mckinnon and Pierre T Lambert would have to be my absolute top 3 YouTube influencers. I feel that they have taught me different work flows, editing styles and just skills to do with photography and the impact they have had on me has been life changing!
