We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Reynolds and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve been a Personal Trainer for a long time, a little over 15 years. I’ve worked for some great people, helped other people open their gyms/studios that had been very successful. The pandemic kinda of forced me to go out on my own, which was always a goal of mine anyway. So I just knew that it was finally my turn to turn my passion and my methods into reality.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart is the fact that I truly care about my clients/members. I genuinely want to have a positive impact and make a difference in their life. I want people to feel seen, important, recognized and successful.

I got to where I was successfully honestly by started with exceptional mentors. The first gym owners I worked with were really some of the most qualified trainers out there and it was through them that I got a solid foundation in all things fitness, form, programming and coaching.
Since then I’ve always hustled. When I went out on my own at a big box gym I worked as much as I possibly could when my girls were in school or at their dads house. I “touched” as many people as I could, created as many opportunities as I could, and really tried to convey the value of what I did to as many people as possible. The hours were long and working for someone else was never quite profitable enough for a single mom of two but I kept on fighting and strategizing as much as I could. I brought Small Group Training to the big box gym I worked for which allowed for a bigger bang for your buck hour as a trainer, and a more reasonable cost for the client.
Lessons? the harder you work the greater the reward. Never burn any bridges because you never know if or how you may connect with that person again. Never go into a partnership with out legal counseling and written agreements.
I want people to recognize and experience my passion for what I do. I want to have an impact and make a difference in as many life’s as possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well the beach obviously whether is basking in the sun on a hot summer day or doing a beach walk at sunset. Our absolute favorite restaurant just closed unfortunate, Pacific by NoRu. We recommended them to everyone. For a casual night out for Tacos and Margaritas Casa de Soria is probably a weekly spot or ours. We know and love all of the staff and always joke that if/when we get married we’re gonna have our party there. For a classy or date night our favorite is Cafe Zacks. We’ve yet to find a Filet Mignon that compares.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well I’d have to pick two(ish) – first off I would have to recognize my loyal clients. Some that have been with me for so many years and many of which played a huge role in helping me open my doors. Also to my partner/long term boyfriend Guy Martin who really encouraged me to just leap. He’s been my biggest cheerleader and supporter throughout this entire process and was also my contractor and designer for both my home studio as well as current, beautiful training space.
