We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacey Carreira and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacey, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks for me, has always been a fear. Not because I don’t believe in myself, my potential, or what I’m capable of accomplishing, It’s the fear of failing.

My friends and family encouraged me to start my own business, but I was always afraid to take the leap.

A very dear friend of mine, who I respect and look up to, said: “with failures comes success. Failures help shape us, and pave the way to success.”

Those words impacted my life tremendously, not only in the professional world, but day to day life. Gave me the push and confidence I needed to take a chance on my passion. I will say, it has been paying off, and I’m proud of myself for finally taking the risk.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve worked in the hospitality business my entire adult life, providing exceptional experiences for costumers/guest.

When we had employee parties I would help decorate for them. My bosses and coworkers were always impressed by my creativity and attention to detail. They always said I should get into the party planning business, but I was comfortable and scared to make a change.

Life events happened, I crossed paths with some amazing human beings, that made me realize it was time.

On The Point is owned by myself and my partner Jacquie LoCoco. We both share the same passion, for event planning, and wholeheartedness blowing our clients away with our ideas and creativity. Making our clients smile is always the goal.
We established the business in July of 2022. Planning events started off as a hobby. It all started with intimate dinner parties in my living room, with close family and friends. I’d decorate the table’s with beautiful tablescapes, floral centerpieces, party favors, and would get crafty and creative with assigned seating.

Fast forward a couple of years later, to now decorating, creating centerpieces and balloons arches for baby showers, bridal showers, baptisms, birthdays, weddings, and so much more.

When I decided to start the business, I was nervous, but excited at the same time. Didn’t know what to expect, or where it was going, but I was ready to take the leap and give it my all.

After losing my avó, aka grandma that same year, I realized life was too short and it was time to pursue my passion for event planning.

We have now been in business for 2 and half years, and I’m very proud on the growth we have made. Extremely thrilled for what’s to come.

The biggest challenges were the partnerships, different personalities, getting the word out there, and figuring out what set us apart from other event planning businesses. All have contributed to our growth and successes.

We bring creativity, attention to detail and unique experiences to events.
Being able to make our clients visions come to life and putting our own spin to it, is the greatest reward.

Owning a business isn’t easy. It takes time to build, hard work, and dedication, but as they say, “if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in America’s finest city. San Diego has a lot to see and enjoy.

I would start with the Cabrillo National monument. Great place with a view of downtown, Coronado, with a little history lesson on Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo. Balboa Park, Old Town, Seaport Village, and Kellogg’s beach, a place where I spend most of my summers.

Harbortown Pub, a Point Loma stable. Great place to watch sports, have a cold beer, along with some mouth watering sliders! La Dona in Ocean Beach authentic Mexican food and yummy margaritas.

A must stop, OB Noodle house, for a shot of their delicious and famous peanut butter whiskey. Can’t leave SD without trying one.

San Diego is know for its weather, so hiking Torrey Pines beach, would be a great way to enjoy the outdoors.

To finish off the day, head over to Sunset Cliffs, and watch the best sunset on the west coast.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Start With Why”, a book by Simon Sniek. Gave me a clear sense of purpose, which led me to the actions and decisions I made to start the business.

My business partner, Jacquie LoCoco, for accepting the challenge and agreeing to this business venture, the UPSES hall, and Portuguese community. They have been our day one supporters and continue to give us amazing opportunities.
A very close and dear friend of mine, Marcus Sprague, for his words of encouragement, and continuous support.
Last, but certainly not least, family and friends (you all know who you are). Couldn’t have done any of this without you all by my side.
