We had the good fortune of connecting with Skylar Sustin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Skylar, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from Santa Clarita, a city in LA county. I’m the oldest child of two and grew up in a really loving and safe home. But of course, it wasn’t perfect. Growing up, I was always pushed to talk about my emotions and work through them until there was some type of understanding of why I did certain things. However, most of the time my answers and understanding were always based on what my mom thought was right and never what I really felt. While this process brought a lot of awareness about the importance of looking at my emotions the push to ALWAYS talk it through and then the expectation of my answers being what someone else thought it was created a confusing combination of knowing what was healthy in terms of emotion coping but not knowing how to actually do it myself or what was true for me. With this and my people-pleasing and perfectionism tendencies, I started to push down my own thoughts about my feelings and experiences rather than share them and if I did share them, mold them around how other people would feel. So while I was lost on how to deal with my own internal world, I was very good at helping other people understand theirs. In my family and in friendships I was always the helper, fixer, mediator, counselor, and emotional support. I turned my energy towards being there for others (part of the people pleaser) rather than myself. This manifested in many struggles as I got older, especially during COVID in 2020 and when my parents divorced in 2021. It was the peak of many of the childhood experiences I mentioned before. Like it was all leading to that point, a burst of overwhelming and confusing emotions as a result of my previous unhealthy emotion-based behaviors and coping mechanisms. At that point, I had no choice but to sit and heal it. Today, I help people understand their emotions, the impact their past emotions and trauma have on their lives today, and heal the root the cause of them because I now understand how much it can change your life to rewire your relationship and perspective on your emotions and trrauma because of what I went through.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I assist others in emotion, mindset, and trauma healing and reprogramming by connecting with their subconscious to clear out emotional energetic blocks and the higher self to align them with a more mindful and self-aware version of themselves. I combine energy work, coaching, and intuitive healing to guide people in shifting their life from the inside out.

To me, helping other people understand the purpose of what they’ve experienced and giving them the space to set themselves free from past traumas and emotions is the most rewarding part of what I do. It’s so much more than a business, it’s a passion and a purpose. Of course, it hasn’t come without its challenges. A big part of success in my business is based on doing my own healing. In order to create the space for others to heal I have to do it with them, otherwise, I’ll have my own blocks and would be helping people with my own trauma in the way. One of the greatest things I’ve learned so far is the power that my own healing has to open up more opportunities for success and authenticity in my business.

My business is created around authenticity, mindfulness, and self-awareness.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I just moved to the San Diego area a few months ago so I’m not completely familiar with the area yet but so far my favorite place to go is Encinitas. If a friend came to visit I would take them to the beach, go to a local coffee shop (Better Buzz and the Succulent Cafe are a favorite), and walk around S Coast Highway in Encinitas! I also love to check out new hiking trails and the botanical gardens!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people and experiences have played a part in where I am today. I’m thankful for all of it, the good and the bad, because without I would never be where I am today.
