We had the good fortune of connecting with Simone Feroci and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Simone, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Consistency, stubbornness. The philosophy behind my work (as a metaphor) consists of hitting the ice slab consistently: it’ll eventually break, it’s a matter of statistics. Also, of course, being serious and professional, focused.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am proud of my work as a bass player, I’ve been playing with top performers in both Europe and the States. I got where I am because I’ve been lucky enough to work and get inspired by people that have been in the same business for way longer, many are the things I learned from them. It wasn’t always easy, the opposite: sometimes I had to give up day jobs in order to be able to play music, and my finances were very bad. I doubted myself before and wondered if I should just leave music and stick to a day job, but I realized very soon that musician is not something that I do: it’s what I am, and there’s no escape from that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles is cool, but I love Long Beach with all of my heart. Lots of spots where to drink, eat and have fun, all at a walking distance! Then of course the landmarks, such Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Hollywood etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was raised in a country where being creative was never seen as a job endeavor, to most of the people being a musician was more like a hobby, and they would tell me to put music aside and find a real job: that’s why I left, and it was the best decision ever, so shoutout to those who defy the rules of the society they’re raised in in order to express themselves!
