We had the good fortune of connecting with Sevahna Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sevahna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, I have been in love with scent for as long as I can remember. I’m an Advanced Certified Fragrance Specialist. I live to smell everything and break it down in my head. Scent creates memories and is soo personal. I wanted to create something different. And by different, I wanted to create a series of scents that spoke to me and to others that prefer something edgy, a little witchy.

I didn’t see anything like that out there, so I thought I would learn to create my own magic. I would learn the art of candle making. I would start a business that would  reflect me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Scent is memory. What sets me apart from others is that my seventeen years of experience in the land of fragrances has taught me sooo much.

I worked for huge companies like Nordstrom and Jo Malone London. They were my stepping stone to get to where I am. There is no better feeling than when an individual picks up my candles and is elated with excitement because I struck a lost memory. I want to be outside the box. I want to be complex and make you think. I just have sooo many ideas, I have to write everything down. The fragrance combinations in my head are like endless filing cabinets haha.
Everything is hand poured in small batches to ensure the best quality. I use cotton wicks and soy wax for a longer but CLEAN burn. My current work space is my kitchen and dining room table….

I package everything on my living room floor during the late night when my little one is sleeping.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start out by grabbing coffee and breakfast at Bay Park Coffee Company. They have the most AMAZING Lavender Latte! I’m there all the time, I’m a proud coffeeaholic.

I would absolutely bring them to Gold Dust Collective in North Park to show off this amazing store that I get to be a part of.
Ocean Beach…. There are soo many awesome places to go. Definitely going to Tilted Stick so they can grab some of their famous wings and good company. Then grab a drink at Northside Tavern, take a walk up Voltaire to Vevor Shop for some local shopping. This place is a hidden gem in OB. Dinner is definitely at 3rd Corner.

We will plan a hike at Sunset Cliffs and try to catch some live music at Brick By Brick.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely!! I have the most amazing group of humans that have encouraged and pushed me to keep going. Starting with the first two people that helped me get started, Eunice & Evan. They are my best friends, my photographers, my voice and truly inspire me to be better. I have two high school teachers that I still keep in touch with and have supported me from day one.  Mrs. Klein & Madame Lunetta.

The first beautiful store that I was invited to be a part of, Gold Dust Collective in North Park!

I now have regulars and have created soo many influential relationships. All of this and especially the support of my little family is why I get to create soo much magic.

Thank you for letting me be me!!!!
