We had the good fortune of connecting with Sevahna Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sevahna, is there something you believe many others might not?
“You have to have a plan” As someone who comes up with ideas on a whim, having a plan just doesn’t pan out. There can be a big idea, a goal. But to actually make a plan is like knowing what the universe is going to throw at you. And we don’t. Every decision we make creates a new goal.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Wolfe + Juniper is composed of an exquisite blend of bespoke parfume oils & essential oils, which are phthalate-free, crafted with cotton wicking, small batch & 100% soy.

Working in the fragrance world for 19 years has definitely taught me what not to do. When Wolfe + Juniper was created, I wanted to make candles that were not only beautiful but are clean, natural and edgy. This brand is a reflection of myself. For me, the most important aspect of my brand is authenticity.
I am most excited for my new chapter to Wolfe + Juniper. I will be launching a line of soaps, alter candles and a few other ideas I have been sitting on for a while.

It was definitely not easy to be where I am right now. I am still navigating my way through the stars. I started in cosmetics when I was 15. I was introduced to a world that would encourage me to be creative & unique. I worked in restaurants, created overnight visual floor sets for a home furnishings store. When I finally got to dive into the fragrance world, I knew then that this is what I was meant to be a part of. I was that little girl again, making potions and perfumes with muddled flowers, leaves & olive oil. I worked a corporate job specializing in fragrance for many years. I even went to a Fragrance School to study scent & its impact on history. I have completed Certifications, History and countless classes to learn about this incredible realm that I have been obsessed with my entire life.

For years I had talked about starting my own fragrance company. And then, I fell into candle making. I have had years of filing cabinets inside my head of scent combinations that I could finally put into a product. And so the magic started to unravel.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would show them Voltaire St. in Ocean Beach. And on a day where I am hosting my Voltaire Art & Makers Walk, they could discover the many talented local makers and artists that are right in our backyard! Grab coffee & treats from Ocean Beach Coffee & Plants, visit the local shops like Willow Ocean Beach & Vervor Shop and support them. Take a few classes at The Artist Outpost. They offer everything from ceramics to stained glass. Definitely dinner at Ceserina & 3rd Corner! And of course catching a game at one of the local bar & grills, The Tilted Stick or North Side Tavern.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My son has been my inspiration to take this to the next level. I even changed my brand name to include his name when he was born. He is my biggest fan & the best little helper!

If it weren’t for my friends, co workers & Managers at Nordstrom encouraging & cheering me on, I would have never made the move to dive this deep into the fragrance world. They were my first customers, and for that I will always be grateful.

While I was just getting started with Wolfe + Juniper, I was asked to join the unique curated shop of Gold Dust Collective in North Park. Owner Kate (also creator of Flight of Fancy), loved my candles and had me in mind to be featured in her shop! I am still soo incredibly thankful to her and her husband for taking a chance on me. I love being a part of this wonderful shop!

My friend Aaron, Owner of Vervor Shop in Ocean Beach invited me to display my work in his shop & who inspired me to start the Voltaire Art & Makers Walk (another story). And Ben, who has been very open to all my ideas and gave me a space in his new coffee shop, Good Omen in University Heights; to sell my work and to include local artists!

My partner Wade, who built me a space to call my own to create everything I could ever want to. A magical space to dream up ideas & make them happen. I am very lucky & thankful.
