We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandra Hurtault and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sandra, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Paris, France, and grew up in a very loving family. I had the privilege of being inspired by talented artists and cooks.

France is a country rich in regional cultures and terroirs. I was fortunate to travel throughout the country, sampling local delicacies and learning from artisans about the ancestral methods used in creating food, liquors, and wine.

This cultural heritage has greatly influenced me. As a chef, I strive to highlight outstanding organic produce and minimally processed ingredients, paying homage to our artisans and farmers.

Europeans embrace a simple lifestyle, and that effortless simplicity, centered on high-quality ingredients, is what I bring to my work every day. I love what I do and am eager to share my passion for great plant-based food with every single one of my clients.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I don’t believe there is an easy path for entrepreneurs. Life is challenging, and working for yourself demands discipline, bravery, and resilience.

I’ve learned to become comfortable with discomfort and, most importantly, to stay true to myself and my beliefs, confident that I will find my audience in time.

Today, I am grateful to have long-term, regular clients who appreciate my approach to plant-based cooking, as well as newcomers who offer heartfelt compliments on my work.

The greatest reward is seeing smiling faces around a dining table and witnessing individuals restore their health through a healthy, plant-based lifestyle.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them for a stroll in the SRF gardens, watch a gorgeous sunset at Grandview Beach, and then prepare fresh pasta (I am part Italian) followed by a homemade plant-based cheese platter. We would sip some Gran Selezione Chianti by the fire. I love spirituality, nature, and great food, so I believe this would be the perfect day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Mata Amritanandamayi and her worldwide charities.

Amma (the hugging saint) has had a great influence on me in the past 7 years, teaching me resilience and broadening my understanding of a compassionate lifestyle.

I contribute to her charitable organization as a volunteer any change I get.
