We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Coffin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Remembering my whys! My whys for starting Matcha Nude run deep. Matcha changed my life in a positive way and I have witnessed it change others! Together, we can all elevate our lives with intentional action, whether that is drinking a matcha latte or moving your body, whether it’s taking a moment to rest your mindset or volunteering your time. Matcha Nude is so much more than a matcha company, we are a community of people choosing to live life differently, to live life fully and with intention.

This motivates me in a deeper way! It inspires me to discover what work/life balance looks like in each new season and say no when I need to. But it also encourages me to reach as many people as I can so we can send a ripple effect through our world and ultimately, as cliche as it may sound, be the change we all wish to see!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Matcha Nude is a sustainable, ethical, delicious and affordable company doing things differently. We exist because finding organic, pure matcha that tastes good, is affordable + good for the planet is actually pretty hard to come by.

Our matcha is naturally soft and sweet in flavor and doesn’t need additional sweeteners and is packaged in 100% compostable packaging, even in your backyard compost. We also do our best to make sure all our shipping materials and compostable or repurposed.

Although some pieces of the puzzle have been easy, like getting the opportunity to search for the best matcha and find it in Kagoshima, Japan right next to an active volcano, finding 100% compostable shipping materials in the sizes we need has been challenges. Our stickers are currently only available abroad and our bags have had quirks. The compostable product industry is still new and the only way to help is grow is the participate in it!

However, we wouldn’t change it! We actually have said no to recycled packaging options on many occasions because for us, the compostable factor is a massive key player!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This list of the incredible humans who have encouraged me could go on for miles but I must say, three fabulous female entrepreneurs stand out to me most!

1: Neomi Negron of Buggy Pops! Not only is she an incredible inspiration, but she is lifting other intentional brands right along side here. Neomi helped me with my limiting beliefs before I even started Matcha Nude. She is also one of my biggest cheerleaders. The biggest lesson I have learned from her is to focus on what you are doing and staying to your brand instead of worrying what everyone else is doing. It is all about collaboration over competition and remembering your why!

2: Calla Hinton of Conscious Care Doula is literally one of the coolest most inclusive humans on heart! This woman serves all of us with her work! She is a full-spectrum doula and childbirth educator that will advocate for you at every stage. She reminds me daily how to do business differently.

3: Jenna Fulmer is an independent hair stylist who has done everything from renting her own chair running her own salon. She is now starting a new journey of motherhood alongside her entrepreneurship. Jenna continues to teach me the importance, value and necessity of work/life balance.
