We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Biggers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from San Diego, CA now located in Montclair, a suburb outside of Los Angeles. I was raised by my southern, maternal, grandparents in a household that prioritized discipline, competition, and hard work. I was thrown into sports from the minute I could walk and quickly found I had great athletic ability- it was something that came quite natural to me. Despite playing sports I was quite unhealthy. In my home you always showed love with food and my grandmother made sure we never went without. In highschool I lost my mother and, now, in retrospect I see that time in my life taught me both independence and perseverance but, at the time I sank deeper into being unhealthy. One day I finally became fed up with feeling horrible and decided I would start to take care of myself with food and fitness. I fell in love- with the feeling, the changes, the routine, and here I am now turning this passion into my business. I find it isn’t one aspect of my upbringing that shaped me into who I am today but, a culmination of the trials and experiences.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a personal trainer with a degree in Nutrition. I own and operate Code of Iron Fitness which offers one on one training, coaching, meal planning, and programming (for those that are a little more experienced in fitness). What sets me apart is that I know what it feels like to start the journey- to begin changing your lifestyle, your habits, and your body. I’ve been there, I’ve been depressed and fighting for motivation and wanting change but, not knowing where to start. I want to share what I know and have learned along the way with others, I’m excited to be a part of their journey. Starting this business has not been easy- it’s been a lot of long days and nights while working another full time job. Hours of school and certifications has kept me busy on my days “off” but, it has been 100% worth it. I feel lucky to be one of the few who get to turn their passion into a career.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I first want to give credit to my incredible boyfriend, John, who has supported me throughout this journey and has been by my side to cheer me on, push me when I have felt like giving up, put in the 80% when all I’ve had left at the end of the day was 20%, and who has reminded me daily of my “why”. I also want to thank all my friends in my life currently. I have been blessed with the most supportive and understanding people who have truly become family.
