We had the good fortune of connecting with Sadie Ackerman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sadie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process started at a young age. When I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would reply very confidently, “a CEO.” I would get chuckles and a patronizing “that’s cute” from the adults. But I was dead serious. I wanted to either run a business or have my own to have the freedom to co-create my destiny and live my life on purpose. I felt a strong responsibility to lead, to be a model for living, thinking, and healing unconventionally. I had a passion to help others in whatever capacity I could. My passion to help others heal from trauma grew into a purpose I call my “passion on purpose,” otherwise known as Finding Home Healing. It is a 1:1 session-based container for women (and brave men) to peel back the layers of themselves that keep them stuck and suffering in order to find and live aligned with their true Self. I also have an online course available for Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) to transform their sensitivity into their superpower and a free podcast to teach people my ways and help lead them out of their darkness into the light without needing to speak to me 1:1. The intention is to help people come home to themselves, heal through adversity and challenge in order to discover their true Self: confident, courageous, calm, creative, clear, curious, compassionate, connected, excited, joyful and playful. Like the sun parting a cloud storm, these qualities shine through and make life abundant, joyful, and worth living. It’s my passion to bring this light to all the dark corners of people’s minds, bodies and hearts.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
(I started sharing some of these answers in the first question). A few key things that set me apart from others is that I have walked my talk. Everything I teach, preach, and do with clients is exactly everything I’ve done myself to heal from extremely challenging, traumatic, horrific experiences (like most of my clients). Instead of letting life victimize me (which is SO easy to do), I let it strengthen me. Every time I’ve burned down to the ground (metaphorically), I just built back stronger. That attitude and mindset is something I feel very proud of as it’s contributed to, if not created, the success I’ve had thus far. While I’ve always been tenacious and stubborn—like it’s hard for me to give up—I’ve had to work extra hard at developing optimism, the key ingredient in my opinion, to overcoming any challenge or obstacle. I don’t see my work with clients as work. I see it as my passion and purpose on this planet: helping human beings, who are just doing the best they can with what they have at the time with a craving for a path forward to their truest and highest selves, find that path and walk it. I can easily see the greatness in others. I honor it and model for them what it’s like to be a loving, compassionate presence for themselves to actually heal and integrate their greatness. I can also, with great certainty and clarity, detect the patterns and blockages within them that have kept them stuck in less than 20 minutes. The biggest takeaway I’d love to offer any person about me, my story, or my brand is that if you believe you were made for greatness, 1. it’s true 2. It’s possible to find it and live in it no matter how much suffering you’ve endured and 3. it’s your job to follow your greatness through to your soul’s content. It’s CHEESY but—Anything is possible if you just believe. I believe in you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a nature lover at heart. I would take them to Palomar mountain to see the beautiful views and hang up a hammock among the majestic trees. We’d definitely pick up a snack first from Healthy Creations in Encinitas. I’d take them to the beach, obviously. Plus another epic hammock spot in downtown Encinitas off J street. Pizza at Blue Ribbon across the street and an AMAZING craniosacral session with Deborah Ortiz in Solana Beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh my gosh, there are so many people. How could I even begin to count? My sister, Dr. Leah Gordon. My dedicated business mentor Jordan Reasoner. My parents undoubtedly. My teachers including Dr. Matt James of the Empowerment Partnership, Joe Caldera, Sheleana Aiyana of Rising Women. My healers including Lorna Light, Tammera Logan, Deborah Ortiz. Books from Steven Kessler (The 5 Personality Patterns), Lise Bourbeau (Heal Your Wounds and Find Your True Self). That just scratches the surface. 😉
