We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabrina Zohar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sabrina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started softwear after my mom went to the doctor with a headache and they found 6 brain aneurysms giving her a 3-5% chance of survival. I hit rock bottom. I lost my job, my apartment, and my entire life to come and stay with my mom for 3 months while they figured out how they would even operate, let alone give her a shot at a ‘normal’ life. While she was in the hospital she couldn’t find anything she loved or felt comfortable in so I set out to make it myself. The day after her successful surgery I started softwear and to this day have her by my side through it all.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sabrina Zohar started her career in the fashion industry, working sales for large brands and showrooms. In the industry, she particularly noticed how brands were both ripping their consumers off with low-quality materials and offshore and unethical manufacturing plants and damaging the environment with inefficient and wasteful standard manufacturing processes. When her mother went to the doctor with a headache, was diagnosed with six brain aneurysms, and given a three-percent chance of survival, Sabrina realized there was more. She watched as her mother took this time of adversity as a moment to find gratitude. When her mother survived, Sabrina decided to start Softwear the next day. After spending eight months creating the exclusive fabric and deals already in place with dozens of vendors, retailers, and other outlets, including The Iconic, Bloomingdales, Tracy Anderson Method, Rumble, and more, the brand has experienced unexpected success at a very early stage. Softwear is set to potentially make a lasting impact on the sustainable apparel industry while inspiring female founders and empowering US-based businesses and environmentally and ethically-conscious consumers.

Sabrina’s health and wellness journey started in 2016 when she quit smoking a pack a day, 3 medications for anxiety/depression, went paleo and worked out for the first time in 9 years. This catapulted her into the mental health space and after hitting rock bottom in her relationship she started therapy and never looked back. Over the course of 5 years Sabrina learned the root cause of her anxious attachment and how to heal it which led her to work with clients 1-1 in the hopes of sharing her journey and helping others along the way. In 2022 Sabrina launched her tik tok which exploded and in 5 months has accrued 250K followers, a podcast, and helps people all over the world identify their attachment styles and work through their limiting beliefs.

Nothing about being an entrepreneur has been easy, but it’s the most rewarding experience I have ever been through. Building multiple businesses from the ground is something I take great pride in and I cant wait to see where they all lead!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If youre coming to Encinitas then visiting the 101 Is a must! There’s Prager Bro bake shop for Sammys, the beach and of course my favorite spin studio Grindhouse cycle! Love a good sweat.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shoutout is for the 10 year old me, without the trials and tribulations as well as the healing journey, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
