We had the good fortune of connecting with Roxy Falsafi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roxy, what are you inspired by?
I’m Roxy Falsafi and I have been practicing freelance videography and photography for the past four years. Over this time I have become an editor for my own work along with working for others as well. I began filming lifestyle videos simply as a passion, but it quickly escalated into a potential career choice. When asked what I am inspired by countless things come to mind. The main purpose behind my work is to give anyone and everyone a reason to smile. To know that I have the ability to make people all over the world smile is the reason why I love what I do so much. This alongside the fact that I get to create memories that literally last a life time. My parents have a bunch of at home tapes that we enjoy watching a couple of times every year. I am creating a portfolio of my childhood now that I am so excited to show my future kids. I can’t wait to keep sharing my vision with the world now and forever!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been practicing freelance videography and photography for the past six years. My filming career began shortly after my athletic career ended, and that is proof that when a door closes another one opens. I am focusing on my academic career while pursuing my filming / photography career as much as possible. This means that I have to make the most of the time that I get to create content. I am completely self taught and have created a brand out of the passion I have for what I do. The biggest obstacle I have had to overcome would have to be keeping the excitement there. I have had to learn how to draw a line so my passion does not feel like a job to prevent it from becoming unenjoyable. To maintain the thrill of doing what I love has been tested at times, but I continue to move forward fully passionate.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had to show someone around I would take them to a rooftop or any beach. I say this because going outside and adventuring is my favorite thing to do. I love to see the city at night and the water during the day. Going to school in Arizona limits my time near the water, which makes me, and my friends here appreciate it so much more.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I began my film journey using a Go Pro that was gifted to me by my dad after he had heard me mention that I wanted to take videos on some of our trips. Shortly after that my mom had noticed it was time for an upgrade, and gifted me my first DSLR. This gave me a huge window of opportunity to begin working professionally, and slowly turn my passion into a job. I then began to content creating for others, and fell in love. Being a full time student while having a job I am extremely passionate about is rare, so I am very thankful. Throughout all of this time, my amazing friends have inspired me and been an amazing support system. I have so much appreciation for my friends and family and I forever will.
