We had the good fortune of connecting with Rene’ MacVay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rene’, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal is to make a difference in people’s lives. I motivate and educate them to maximize their potential and be the best version of themselves. As an educator and fitness professional, I have the opportunity to change people’s lives. I take that responsibility seriously and continue to learn so that I can give the best of myself to those with whom I work.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love what I do and spread my enthusiasm to those with whom I work. Trying to be good at your craft takes hard work, dedication, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Because I love educating others to help them gain knowledge, work is enjoyable. I approach each day with optimism and a smile. I look to find ways to make learning accessible and enjoyable to everyone through creating community.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had the chance to take a visitor to San Diego, I would take them to Balboa Park and experience the museums and the San Diego Zoo. Another activity I would do with them is take them for a hike on one of the many trails in the area. Most people who come to a coastal community would like to see the ocean, therefore I would take them to La Jolla Cove.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to the mentors that have guided me to where I am today. I vividly remember the teachers who taught me to bring books to life in my head. I remember the professors that pushed me to be a better writer. I remember the instructors and trainers that set an example for me and inspired me to turn a hobby into a profession. Each of these individuals loved what they did and made those around them love it too. Their enthusiasm was infectious as was their care and compassion for those with whom they worked.
