We had the good fortune of connecting with Regie Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Regie, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The public in general still sees CBD as marijuana, or THC. The cannabis plant has 2 strains, hemp and marijuana. Hemp is high in CBD and very low in THC, while Marijuana is high in THC, and low in CBD.
CBD has been legalized on the federal level and is legal in 46 states with legislation pending in the remain states and territories.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The majority of my career has been spent in the hotel industry. I worked at several independent hotels and resorts and with Hilton and Four Seasons in various positions, including as General Manager. I was fortunate to be able to work in amazing locations, both in the United States and internationally. I have always wanted “to do my own thing” and hotels gave me the training I needed for both customer service and also running a business.
It was not easy coming to a decision of leaving an industry I was comfortable in and doing well in. However, I took the experience and training I received and translated it into an industry that is often referred to as “the wild west”. There is so much confusion over what CBD is and how it can help us in our everyday lives and I try to provide clarity.
We have learned that there are still obstacles to overcome. There are so many brands of CBD that it is hard to know which one is a legitimate product. Even within the industry, we have to do our research to ensure it is a quality brand with a good reputation.
We are here to help educate people about wellness and how CBD can play a role in our lives. We see so many people with sleep issues, chronic pain and stress. I want to give the tools to find the best solution and ensure that even if they don’t purchase from us, they leave us with an understanding of what CBD is and is not.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am lucky enough to have my best friend live near me. We have really enjoyed exploring Oceanside and all of the revitalization that is occurring in the downtown area. It has some of the best beaches in California and has such a true, California beachside town feel. There has been some amazing restaurants and retail that have popped up and we truly enjoy checking out these new places.
We like to hang out at Miss Kim’s by That Good Boy Good on the 101 downtown for a true barbecue experience and great drinks. My store is next to Jitters Coffee Pub which is so convenient for my coffee fix.
We also like good Korean food and Mr. Bibi, located conveniently across from Miss Kim’s, serves a wicked good stone pot.
For the best sunsets, we head down to the pier and on the way, checkout the “Top Gun” house. We truly love all that Oceanside has to offer!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my family and friends who have supported me in this venture. My wife, Michelle, my son, Trevor and daughter, Claire. They have made this venture possible and always give me great ideas. Sally, my “work wife” supports me everyday with her styling skills, ability to source our collection that meets our expectations, and her sense of humor. The branding and marketing team, Zarina and Lily keep us on track and ensure our message is consistent. None of this would be possible without all of their support.
