We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Saldivar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My business partner and I have worked collectively in the craft beer industry for over 25 years. Flying back from the Great American Beer Festival in 2017 inspired us to open our own craft beer business. With the knowledge we have in the restaurant and beer industry, we felt confident we could do it. Having 2 children of our own, we also wanted to make sure it was family and pet friendly.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are a small business owned family and pet friendly beer garden and kitchen set right in the heart of Old Poway Village. We have over 4,ooo sq ft of patio space with room for games such as corn hole and Jenna and live music every Saturday and Sunday evenings. We are very proud of the community we live in and have found that old friends are reuniting from high schools and college at our location! Families are very important to us and we love how much support we get from Poway and the surrounding communities.

It was not easy to open during a Pandemic, but somehow we were able to overcome the ups and downs and constant changes in a restaurant during that time. I learned how to become very flexible and adapt to the challenges at hand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would love to go visit some of the best breweries in Oregon. Take in all the seasons of colors and shop all the markets. I love meeting new people and learning their stories, where they come from and what they love to drink. I am one to chat pretty easily!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My inspiration is my business partner and father of our 2 kids, Mark Saldivar. This was his ultimate dream and when I had oh so many moments of defeat, he really pushed me through and inspired my confidence to be as successful as we are. Although Mark primarily works the books and numbers for the business, he is the one to thank for what he has given to me, our family and the business.
