We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Anne Geraci and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca Anne, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I love making clothing.
I love teaching yoga.
I love collaborating.
I love coordinating events.
I love weaving people together.
And,
I love Pachamama – our earth.

I want to do these things for the rest of my life, so to perpetuate this, it was essential to create my own business doing so. Ragtribe has honestly just always existed in my world & the more I learned about the Fashion Industry, the more I understood the need for a radical change in order to save the environment. I feel called to unify fashion and sustainability. To promote creative expression while simultaneously improving the lives of all wild things on this planet.

I learned how to sew in home economics class when I was 11 years old & took fashion classes all four years of high school. Ragtribe was born when I was 16. I’m a Pisces so making decisions is not my strong suit but l knew for certain I was going to California to start my own lifestyle clothing brand. Following my Dharma just made sense.

When I was 18, I moved across the country to earn a degree in Fashion Design at FIDM in DTLA. I continued on to work for a few fast fashion brands after graduation. I learned a lot about how I wanted to do things… and I realized all the unethical practices I didn’t want to carry on. I felt stifled by mass production, deceit and environmentally detrimental practices of the industry and ran fast to Slow Fashion.

Ragtribe is an ever evolving lifestyle brand. It is a collective of all the things that bring me fulfillment. I often let emotion lead me in life – this is where love has led me. Everything I have done thus far, has been to nurture my brand. Ragtribe was actually born as RAGS clothing + designs which then morphed into RAGS Clothing Tribe and then finally simmered down to Ragtribe.

My designs and artistic direction have definitely evolved with the brand’s name & increasing wisdom. Our focus now is consciously handmade clothing made from sustainable materials like hemp, bamboo and organic cotton. And, coordinating wellness events from festivals to yoga retreats. Our next goal is to move into costume design for music videos and create even more eclectic, custom outfits for musicians & performers.

What should our readers know about your business?
Ragtribe is an ethical clothing & yoga collective. Our mantra ‘slow & sustainable is the move’ guides our designs and ego. We embrace natural fibers, eco-friendly screen printing inks and low impact dyes. I personally design, cut & sew every garment and plan every retreat. Right now, the clothing is all one of a kind but a capsule collection of hemp outer & loungewear sizes S-XL is in the works!

I’m most excited about the collaborations with musicians we’ve been working on lately! We’ve recently outfitted Al Mighty from EarthKry, Kyle from Sensi Trails and Blvk H3ro. I am beyond stoked to create more custom outfits for performers & get Ragtribe on more stages!

I’m also looking forward to growing the wellness element of the business. Ragtribe recently just curated the Wellness Village at Reggae on the Mountain in Santa Barbara & we are also hosting our 2nd annual Harmonize & Rise yoga retreat this May in Sedona! Our retreats are designed for everyBODY. No judgment, no expectations. Just a safe container for each student to process & dive inward.

Getting to where I am today took a lot of resilience, hard work & blind bravery. I’ve absolutely hit roadblocks and gotten knocked down. I’ve learned that complications are going to happen and it’s all about how you handle that set back. It’s super easy to dwell, second guess everything and stay at a low vibration. But, I’ve found much more reward in taking that defeat and transforming it into momentum & motivation.

Ragtribe is so much more than just a brand. It’s a lifestyle.
It’s a community of creative, spiritual, innovative & like minded individuals;
It’s a tribe.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LBC especially on Sundays! I’d take my friend to Yogalution yoga at the Bluff with Dharma. She’s an amazing teacher & doing yoga in the sunshine with ocean views is bliss. After yoga we’d hop across the street & hit up the Collective Healing Market produced by Blue Buddha Blends. It’s a high vibe outdoor market featuring local vendors & artisans and it usually ends in a drum circle with High Vibe Triiibe & friends. I popped up the Ragtribe booth and sold at the market quite a bit this past summer! After the yoga and the market, two quick stops – True Nature for an acai bowl and Green Wisdom because they have the best selection of herbs & witchy sh*t. Then, we’d jam it down to SeaLegs in Huntington Beach – free reggae concert on the beach!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family hands down; my little bro, Jake, who has graciously let me style & pose him for countless photoshoots. My parents, who have always supported their wild middle child bouncing around California in pursuit of her dreams. And my sister, Sarah, who provides emotional support & amazing hand woven fabric for our garments!

I also have so much love for all of my friends & strangers turned to friends that have modeled, promoted & purchased my clothing. I seriously wouldn’t be where I am without my Tribe.
