We had the good fortune of connecting with Quincy Lavarus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quincy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
i think risks are character builders. taking risks you either win or lose, but whether you win or lose, you still learn something in the end. taking risks has built me into the person i am today, and i’m still learning and taking risks every day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been a goofy, sweet, fashionable, and all around nice person so I like to showcase myself on social media, and that’s actually what got me where I am. Social media is a big world but also a small world at the same time. It’s not easy to get to the best place professionally, but it can be easy to get discouraged. I’m still not really exactly where I want to be professionally, but I’m learning that it’s okay because the right opportunities will come when the time is right. There was a period in time where I gave up on myself, but I got out of that rut, and I’m re-building my brand. And with my story I want the world to know that it’s okay if things aren’t happening overnight for you because in that time you’re working toward your success, you need those obstacles to build a stronger you!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start off by taking them to Hollywood the first day (since everyone that’s not from LA wants to see Hollywood lol), and we could walk the Walk of Fame and take pictures with their favorite celeb’s star. Maybe even take one of the Hollywood bus tours. The next day we would go to Six Flags or Knottsberry Farm and spend most of if not the whole day there. The day after that, we would go wandering around LA and then maybe hit a night club later on (the West Hollywood strip on Santa Monica Blvd is always lit). We would also most definitely have to spend a beach day at Santa Monica beaches and the Pier. My friends also like to shop so we would have to also visit the Beverly Center and the Glendale Galleria even if it’s just to window-shop lol. & Can’t forget about the Grove. We can almost certainly run into a celeb shopping there. There’s really so much to do between Long Beach and LA.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate a special shoutout to my non-biological dad, TJ. he came into my life at a really low point and took me in as his own son. he really motivated me when i was in a dark time and supports all the decisions i make with my life. he just reminds me that there are still great people in this world. i would also like to decicate this to my mom Jennifer, my aunt Deia, my grandma Barb, and all of my family living across the country in New Castle, PA (my place of birth).
