We had the good fortune of connecting with Paisley Bird and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paisley, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
Empathy and compassion. I want to be remembered as someone empathetic and compassionate. I want to consistently lead with kindness even through the most difficult moments. My goal is to share kindness in all my endeavors and provide a safe space for others as much as possible. If I can be remembered as that, then my soul will be complete.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I chose to pursue acting because it feels like home. It is a challenging art form; it’s showcasing a pure vulnerability in front of an audience on top of making sure you remember your lines and directions! I wouldn’t trade all the hard moments for anything. It is brutal in the most liberating way. There is rejection, long hours, last minute changes, tiring scenes and creative differences. However, there is also camaraderie, community, catharsis, and being a part of something truly meaningful. My intuition knew that along with being a storyteller, I am also a healer. This notion led me to becoming a certified life and spiritual coach with a specialty in insight. I believe this blend of artist and healer is my essence and a beautiful synchronicity. I’ve learned that in order to make positive change in the world and in your own life, you have to start with yourself. The more you accept and understand yourself, the more natural it is to go after what aligns with your values, and in turn, satisfies your soul. I’ve lived most of my life suppressed and it’s an ongoing journey to deprogram my past. Now that I am free of that restriction, I want to share with others that’s possible to escape and thrive out of a seemingly dooming situation. With grit and love, you too can write the story of your life and live it!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would love to play tour guide for a friend visiting for a week! I would definitely bring them to the San Diego Zoo, a show at the House of Blues, a trip to Coronado Shores at The Hotel Del, a day in Torrey Pines, grab coffee from Bird Rock, breakfast at the Cottage in La Jolla, lunch at C Level, dinner at Starlite, take a walk through Balboa Park, and of course a spa day at Rancho Valencia.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I could not be where I am without the support of so many beautiful humans. Laura Valente has been a ray of light in my life for many years and continues to unconditionally support me in everything I go after. Anthony Coryell, a brilliant filmmaker, cast me in a role that changed my life and for that I am forever appreciative for him and our beautiful relationship. Both of these unique souls have given me encouragement during very low times. I thank everyone who I have had the privilege of crossing paths with; my life has more magic in it.
