Meet Osceola DuBois | MULTI-MEDIA CREATOR

We had the good fortune of connecting with Osceola DuBois and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Osceola, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
That’s a really great question because, as a whole, I do believe that as I grow, learn, and continue to gain experience within the space I am in, being prepared in a traditional sense is fully foundational. I would say, however, that early on, in preparation for launching in 2014, the consensus within the industry was to “STAY PREPARED.” Nonetheless, significant changes have reshaped the landscape for independent content and media small businesses over the last decade. I believe they can be broken down into about 11 separate categories:
Digital Platforms and Social Media: Platforms like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and podcasts have democratized content creation and distribution. We can now reach global audiences without needing traditional media gatekeepers.
Monetization Opportunities: There are more ways than ever for us to monetize our content, including Patreon, YouTube AdSense, brand sponsorships, affiliate marketing, and selling merchandise directly to fans.
Streaming Services: The popularity of streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Spotify has shifted consumer habits away from traditional TV and radio, opening new opportunities for us as video and audio content creators.
Crowdfunding: Platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo have enabled us to fund our projects directly through our audience, bypassing traditional funding sources.
Content Management Systems (CMS): The development of user-friendly CMS platforms like WordPress, Squarespace, and Wix has made it easier for us to create and manage professional-quality websites.
SEO and Digital Marketing: Search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing have become critical for visibility. We must now understand and implement strategies to rank well in search engines and engage on social media.
Data Analytics: Access to sophisticated data analytics tools has allowed us to better understand our audience, track engagement, and optimize our content and marketing strategies.
Remote Work and Collaboration Tools: Tools like Zoom, Slack, and Trello have enabled remote work and collaboration, allowing us to operate more flexibly and access a global talent pool.
E-commerce Integration: The integration of e-commerce with content platforms has allowed us to sell products directly through our websites or social media profiles, creating additional revenue streams.
Changes in Copyright and Licensing: Evolving copyright laws and the growth of content licensing platforms have influenced how we protect and monetize our work.
Audience Fragmentation: The growth of niche communities means that we can target highly specific audiences with tailored content, although this also means more competition for attention.
These changes have vastly transformed how we operate, providing many new opportunities but also requiring us to adapt more than ever to an increasingly digital and competitive environment. I always say that I have never booked a job from handing out a business card or a flyer. Every single project I have ever been a part of has come from face-to-face personal interaction or word-of-mouth introduction. These engagements have taken me places I could not have foreseen, so my posture will always be, more importantly, “STAY FLUID” as you are prepared. If the next decade is anything like its predecessor, the landscape, now including artificial intelligence, will undergo an even more pronounced foundational shift.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is my drive to blend authenticity with visual impact. I’m want to push the boundaries of traditional media and exploring innovative techniques. Whether it’s through interactive digital installations, compelling visual narratives, or cutting-edge multimedia collaborations, my goal is going to be crafting stories that not only entertain but also inspire and provoke thought. I’m most excited about the potential of my work to spark meaningful conversations and make a positive impact on the world.
My journey has been a blend of passion, persistence, and continuous learning. I started with a desire to improve my craft and built on that foundation by embracing new technologies and media forms. It wasn’t always easy—there were numerous challenges along the way, from mastering new techniques to overcoming creative blocks. What kept me going was my commitment to authenticity and the belief that art should inspire and provoke thought. I tackled these challenges head-on by collaborating with like-minded individuals and staying open to new ideas and feedback.
One key lesson I’ve learned is that growth comes from pushing boundaries and stepping outside your own comfort zone. Embracing innovation and being willing to experiment has led to some of my most rewarding projects. Another important lesson is the value of collaboration. Working with others who share a vision and passion can elevate a project beyond what I could achieve alone.
I want the world to know that my work is driven by a deep commitment to creating meaningful and impactful experiences. My brand is all about blending art and technology to tell stories that leave a lasting impression. I believe that art should not only entertain but also inspire and provoke thought.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, you’re not going to find a better location to visit than America’s Finest City. All of my closest and dearest friends live in the area, so I’m very lucky in that way. However, I’ve made plenty of friends scattered throughout the rest of the nation. I’d have to say a surprise visit from one of them sounds amazing, and the best memories always involve all five senses, in my opinion.
So, if I’m picking you up from the airport, we’re headed straight to In-N-Out, and later on to one of the incredible taco shops for carne asada burritos to get you properly acclimated to the hometown. The rest of the week would involve, in no particular order, Mediterranean from Sahara’s Taste of the Middle East or Olympic Cafe, seafood from Water Grill, steak at Born and Raised, vegan at KINDRED, pizza from Siamo Napoli, and BBQ from Grand Ole BBQ, Smokin J’s, or Felix’s BBQ.
Throughout the week, we’ll be feeling the sun on our faces at any one of our beautiful beaches, from Coronado all the way up to Oceanside, riding jet skis, taking in the surf, playing sports in the sand, and parasailing. We’ll definitely make sure to take in some unbelievable sounds at a concert down at The Rady Shell in Jacobs Park or even at a Fever Candlelight Concert.
There’s plenty to see in our local arts and culture scene, maybe exploring the museums at Balboa Park or catching a show at the Old Globe Theatre. Vibrant neighborhoods like Little Italy or the Gaslamp Quarter are great places to enjoy unique shops, street art, and live music. Hopefully, we create a week full of diverse experiences that properly showcase the best of what our incredible city has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I want to thank my mother and father Osceola Sr. and Jacqueline Felton. They provided my brothers and me with an exceptional example of what grit and determination look like, raising us to fight for just causes and to never back down from challenges. Their unwavering support and the values they instilled in us have been the foundation of any successes I might have had to this point.
I also want to give a heartfelt shoutout to Von Ware, who gave me my first multimedia job and believed in my talents. Von’s faith in my abilities gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams and explore new horizons in the content and media space.
Additionally, I am immensely grateful to Nino Venturella for allowing me to contribute and partner in a cause close to his heart, the vision and direction of Cruise4Kids. Over the past decade, working with Nino has been an inspiring and fulfilling experience, and I deeply appreciate the trust and opportunities he has provided.
Each of their individual support in me has been instrumental in my journey, and I am forever thankful.
