Meet Nikky T | Recording Artist & Recording Studio Co – Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikky T and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nikky, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

I have had many thoughts, emotions and challenges with being an entrepreneur and starting my own businesses. To give some background on who I am, my name is Nikky T and I have two main businesses: I am a singer/songwriter, as well as, I also co – own a recording studio in Hollywood, CA.

For starters I grew up with two working parents who were immigrants from Europe. Work never came easy to them so watching them work from the ground up to build a solid foundation taught me that I can do anything I put my mind to. I took this seed they planted for me and my sister and I carry it with me every day when I show up for myself and my team. Starting a business is scary. Society almost sets you up to believe in either success or failure and those are your only two options. I can honestly say that we are all not perfect and what I have learned about having a business is to be open and adaptable. I am always a student in life and the lessons I’ve learned along the way have helped set me forward. Another thing I have learned in business is to always carry your morals with you. People want to invest in a trustworthy person and a good business. Good morale carries a long way in business through building great relationships and great connections. Even though it is scary at first, the hard work truly does pay off in the end. As they say “it’s better to have tried and failed than to live life wondering what would’ve happened if I had tried.”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a singer, songwriter and dancer. I started off as a dancer when I was three years old, I practically grew up onstage. The stage has always felt like home to me, so it wasn’t much of a surprise when It translated over into singing. I am self taught and I was always singing anywhere and everywhere. I was 17 years old when I first got into a recording studio. Ever since then I have been working on my craft from singing, songwriting to performing. I have loved being able to create music others can listen and relate to. I am also very excited to now co-own a recording studio, it has been a big dream of mine! I have learned that following your dream is not easy as there are always going to be ups and downs along the way. This industry comes with a lot of hate, judgment, criticism, and opinions so I have learned to try my best to look past it and stay true to myself and my beliefs. I would like the world to know that If you have a dream, always continue to chase it because hard work always pays off! There is nothing more beautiful than seeing your dreams come to life before your eyes!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego is my hometown and one of my favorite places to show people around. On a perfect day I would start my day off with a coffee from Better Buzz then a beach walk on Kellogg Beach in Point Loma. Afterwards I would go to lunch in either La Jolla or Pacific Beach and then enjoy the shopping in La Jolla Village, as well as show the infamous seals and beaches. I would then get ready for a fun night out on the town in the Gaslamp district. There are so many more amazing places San Diego has to offer, but those are some of my top picks!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I would love to give a huge shoutout to my family. To my mom, dad, and sister, thank you for always supporting me and loving me unconditionally. Seeing your faces at each and every show truly makes my night! Love you!
