Meet Nicholas Marion. | General Manager of Fit Athletic

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicholas Marion. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicholas, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is individually subjective. The thought of trying something new should be viewed as exciting and not risky. We live in a world influenced by false security and promises. Most of us are brought up learning that stability is safe, and that conformity is expected. This is called a fixed mindset. I have taken many “risks” in my career just by merely saying yes to opportunities that were presented to me. I have never been fearful of risks because I perceive “risk” as a new challenge and opportunity for growth. This is called a growth mindset. Having this mindset has taken me places all over the world and allowed me to help, educate, and influence people to become better versions of themselves.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a fitness industry veteran with 20 years of experience. I started as a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed personal trainer. I then evolved to become a head strength coach, gym owner, fitness educator, and now general manager pursuing a Ph.D. in exercise physiology. It has been a fantastic journey of self-discovery, trials, and tribulations. Nothing worth having is ever easy but enjoying what you do even during hard times helps immensely! I learned that my passion is to help inspire and educate people who wish to make better health behavior changes. I want the world to know that life does not happen to you but for you! You have the free will to decide how your life will play out. Take risks

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Mandatory Padres game on Friday Walk through Little Italy farmers market on Saturday and have a fantastic dinner in the evening at barbusa. Walk the beautiful beach in Solana beach and have brunch at Poseidon on Sunday

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A shout-out goes to my hard-working parents, who taught me never to be fearful and to embrace the opportunity. To my beautiful, talented, and hardworking wife for always supporting me. To the Fit Athletic community for taking me into their fit family with open arms! To my counterpart, Chad Shaw, for being a great mentor and supporter. To Jordan Goll for giving me the initial opportunity to work at fit and showcase my skills. Last but not least, to the Fit staff and community, you rock!
