Meet Natalie Thomas | Mindfulness Coach & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalie, how do you think about risk?
I feel like the majority of my life has been a series of risks, it’s something that actually feels natural to me (but not always easy). Growing up, I was a springboard diver which was a massive risk within itself. The risk of failure, injury, physical exhaustion and mental health concerns was something that comes with being an athlete, especially at a D1 university. However, my time as a diver really shaped who I am as a person. The discipline, responsibilities, and perseverance that I learned at such a young age was a huge asset to me in my adult life.
Another huge risk that I took was when I made the decision to leave the United States and move to Santiago, Chile. This was perhaps one of the biggest risks I have ever taken in my life. I wound up leaving my comfortable job in Los Angeles working for a major studio in Hollywood to move to a country where I didn’t even speak the language. What I thought was going to be a three month trip turned into me now living in Europe almost eight years later.
Since moving to Chile, I have lived in eight different countries and have met people from all over the world. I also started my business, The Now With Nat, and have learned immensely about myself and different cultures. None of this would have been possible without taking the massive risk to live in South America in 2017.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is called The Now With Nat, which began during my nomadic travels around 2019. I would say my business really started to take shape by 2020.
The Now With Nat is all things spirituality and mindfulness. I am a yoga/meditation teacher, corporate wellness consultant, mindfulness coach, and Astrocartography reader. Mindfulness is not a one size fits all practice, so I make sure to tailor all of my 1:1 sessions to fit the needs of the client. Whether it’s practicing meditation, life coaching, transitioning through a major life change, or working on reducing stress/anxiety, I am here to help. I have learned and taken courses with many top leaders in the wellness space. I am simply guiding others based on my own practices and what I have learned. I also work with corporate teams and businesses, providing mindfulness tools to decrease burnout and stress in the workplace.
Having my own business is certainly not easy and there comes many highs, lows, and uncertainty. It’s a big risk within itself. As cliche as it sounds, it starts with believing in yourself. Imposter syndrome is a real thing, and it’s how to go within and show up in the highest and best way possible. I also have some amazing people on my team who assist me with my business.
My brand/story is through creating a life that feels in alignment with who you are as a person. Society tells us to live/be a certain way, a way that many people do not resonate with. And when you are not on your path, or living a life for others, this is what can cause stress, depression, and mental health challenges. My mission is to guide you back on your life path and to your true self of who you really are.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Lisbon, Portugal is such a fun place to visit in the spring/summer. There is a huge community of people from all over the world which makes it fun to easily meet new people. I also really love Costa da Caparica, which is a short drive away from Lisbon. I recommend lunch at Princesa which is my favorite spot on the beach. In the city, Praca das Flores is also a popular hangout in Lisbon. You can dine at Magnolias or enjoy a nice glass of wine at Black Sheep. Close by, a new place opened called Hot Cold Club – where you can enjoy a cold plunge to reset your body followed by a sauna to release toxins. You can end the experience with a nice lunch. I highly recommend!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In 2012 when I was at a low point in my life, I had a massive awakening which shifted my path moving forward. A book that had a big impact during this time (and in my life) was “Many Lives, Many Masters” by Dr. Brian Weiss.
My parents have also been a massive support system for me. My life is very outside of the box and not quite “normal” within society’s standards, but they have supported me since day one. With my many moves abroad, from starting my own business, hosting classes/retreats worldwide, to even just providing emotional support through many ups and downs has greatly impacted me and accounted for my success.
I also want to give a shoutout to my friends. From my friends that have known me a very long time in the states, to the close knit relationships formed abroad, I am beyond grateful to be surrounded by people who uplift, love, and inspire me. I have met so many amazing people in my life, all of whom I am extremely grateful for.
