We had the good fortune of connecting with Nanor Zinzalian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nanor, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I love the phrase “imperfectly perfect” I use that to guide my work a lot. Relating to photography and my experiences observing others being themselves, the quote holds so much meaning. Something I (and I’m sure a lot of photographers) struggle with is the constant pressure to curate event or portrait sessions. For me, I love when people are being themselves and I’m there capturing it. The phrase for me represents little moments that aren’t curated but are perfect in their own way. Imperfectly perfect guides the work I do so much so to the point where I find myself repeating it in my head while I’m taking photos and choosing the photos to send to my clients.

I love capturing people be people! It’s been crazy (in a good way) for the past few years and the more time goes on I’m finding my people more which is so exciting. I think a lot of what helped me get to where I am right now is being open to trying a lot of things paired with trying to give my clients the best experience every time. The work I’m creating now is so special because I’m photographing a lot of new families (big milestone!!) and seeing my clients get so excited about capturing this moment in their life makes my heart want to burst. Seeing the way they look at their children and freezing that moment in time for them is so rewarding.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A fun day for me consists of getting a big fat vanilla latte with oatmilk and getting lunch at Figaro Bistrot. After we’ve digested and caught up we have to walk it off and check out local thrift stores and get something we don’t need but definitely want haha.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my incredible support system that hypes me up whenever I’m feeling like I’m not creating my best work. My clients who go above and beyond to refer me to their friends and family. You all are the best!!
