We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Noriega and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monique, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success comes in many different ways. Success to us means loving what you do and sharing it with others. Money can come and go but your happiness and eagerness to succeed gives you the ultimate feeling of success!

What should our readers know about your business?
Iced Above isn’t your average juice bar. We strive to give you a great experience with every item! Iced Above originally started with fresh fruit popsicles then one day when brainstorming new items, the michelada paleta was born. From there we expanded into Chile candy and eventually adding Agua frescas to our menu. It’s always hard to start up a business and even harder when trying to stay afloat due to Covid. We had many set backs and hard times however, we knew Iced Above could grow and expand so we never gave up. When things come up you have to pivot and go with the flow. As a female owned business we love to share our story in hopes it will inspire someone else to start something up or inspire them to keep pushing. Hard times come but it’s possible and we are proof.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whenever we have friends come to visit, we alway recommend beach activities, downtown La event, and of course Iced Above. We love showing friends and family when SoCal has to offer wether it’s food or views.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We owe our success to all of our supports. All the people that share our stories and pictures on social media, everyone who comes into our store front to purchase or just look around and say hello, everyone who orders online and shares with others. What we have now wouldn’t be possible without all of their love, support, and feedback! That’s why our slogan is “Support Your Local Homegirls”
