We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike One and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided to pursue making music because of a genuine love to explore and master my creative process.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The art of sampling is something I will forever be a student of. I feel my approach and my sound is what sets me apart which is what I’m most excited about. I think staying dedicated and showing up are the most important factors in getting good at something, talent helps too but you must embody great practices.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
All the spots with a view is where’d we be. Sunset cliff, Coronado, Kate sessions to name a few. I’m still discovering great places but there are many.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout would probably go to all the producers I came up listening to that helped form/mold my sound.
