Meet Michael Crockett | Executive Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Crockett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson I have learned in both my military career and business career is to treat everyone with dignity and respect. A person who has a reputation of treating everyone they encounter with respect and dignity will have people that are always seeking out that individual, whether to work with them or assist them if needed.
I have witnessed this backfire for many people who had a reputation of mistreating co-workers.

What should our readers know about your business?
MC Coaching was something that I came up with when I felt I was at a low point in my professional life. I was the head of business operations for a company but I felt I was floating through my days, not having an impact on any person. That was when I did some soul searching and was reflecting back on my time in the Marine Corps. I learned an incredible amount about leadership during my 23 years in the Marine Corps. However, what I really missed was helping people reframe perceived barriers turning it into a strength. Seeing the light bulb or the Ahha moment people have when “it” clicks for them. This is what propelled me to start my own executive coaching business, which bring Military mindset combined with mindfulness.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in beautiful San Diego county. The day would start by going to a local small bakery that has the best chocolate filled croissants and whatever special coffee makes you smile. After that, we could take the hour long scenic drive to Jullian, a small town that has a magical feel no matter the season. Although, I am particular of the fall and winter season there with a slice of their famous apple pie. We would stroll through all of the different local business shops and trinket stores where there is always something that captures my attention. Next, one my wife and I’s favorite places is the La Jolla beach area. The weather is beautiful year round and the sound of the ocean and of course the yells of the seals is heartwarming. The tour would conclude at downtown San Diego, Tony Gywnn Drive. We would catch a baseball game at Petco Park, by far the nicest park in all of baseball.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would be where I am at today without one group and one special person. First, all of the Marines and Sailors that I worked with. They taught me what inspirational leadership looks like as well as the value every single person brings. Second, the most important person in my life, my best friend, and wife, Hema. I have learned countless life lessons and how to be the best version of myself from her.
