We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Limon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, what inspires you?
I have found that by living seasonally and supporting my momma clients with seasonal healing elements, it has really inspired my life. I have always felt this deep inspiration to empower, educate and equip my momma clients for postpartum healing. We have all the wisdom and tools within but learning how to connect, trust and believe in them as mothers has always motivated me. The more I work within myself to connect to my inner knowing, my cultural background and my own future motherhood, the more I can support my momma clients to do the same. Inspiration is all around me and through me and I feel it’s more of a question of what doesn’t inspire me at the moment.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am now not only serving mommas in person but I am creating more digital products to inspire mothers to prepare for postpartum. I weave in layers of beautiful imagery, inspirational quotes, helpful guides and my own pastel art to help educate and empower. I have found that when we romanticize postpartum healing, we are more drawn to prepare for it. And with that high quality preparation, we find mommas are more equipped and empowered. I want all mommas to know how to care for their bodies in a gentle and understanding way. My art is inspired by motherhood: the gentle, the strong, the powerful, the weak, the balance of colors, the layers of textures, woven baskets, how materials gather in circles, nature, flowers, scents. My story is woven through all of the beautiful creations I share; I love celebrating and preparing you for a healing postpartum journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ooooooo! I would start with a nice trail walk in my own neighborhood to see our local horses. I love the way the dirt sounds underneath my shoes in the morning while birds are chirping. Then we would get coffee at Revolution Roasters in Oceanside. After having the best coffee and gluten free pastries (the passion fruit ones are divine), we would hop down to Del Mar at Nectarine Grove Cafe. There, we would have breakfast + the best gluten free croissants (the almond one is a unicorn – does it exist? I know I’ve had it once…) before 9am. They usually sell out so quickly so getting there for a pastry is a rush. But once we get there we will settle, enjoy and head to the beach. I love Del Mar + Bird Rock beaches so it might be a hard toss up but definitely taking a beach walk will happen! Either space and I am golden for a good beach walk. After collecting shells and rocks to only put them right back on the shore before leaving, we will plan on going back to my place for the yummiest tacos. I am in a taco kick right now and we can’t stop. I love making my own corn tortillas with the masa Ocean Beach People’s Food Co-op. I don’t know why but I need their purple masa stocked in my pantry at all times! Once we have the best tacos, we will hit my local farmer’s market and pick up some flowers. I love picking up calendula and planting it in my raised garden beds. I harvest it way too much and the plants can’t keep up with my need to use it for my momma client’s foot baths etc. We would probably harvest too much then get tired. I would start a fire outside as we rest and finish the night on Pinterest planning yet another trip to Norway.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a beautiful shout out to my own momma. She has always been the truest inspiration behind my love for maternal caregiving. When I was seven years old, I went from only child to watching my mom during her postpartum journey. I had the honor of supporting her with healing elements, nourishing foods and cocooning a space for her to rest. It was an ultimate joy and I still look back at that moment. I saw her strength, her human, her motherhood happening like art on a canvas. It was such an honor that to this day, I can say without a doubt that I LOVE this service to mothers.
