Meet Marina Yanay-Triner | Somatic Life and Business Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marina Yanay-Triner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marina, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in Ukraine and grew up in Israel. It’s crazy to think both of these lands are now experiencing war, loss and grief. Growing up in these areas of the world has had a major impact on me. Being born in a communist country has gifted me with both a lot of trauma around money that I continue to work through AND a deep care for others and a desire for everyone to have their basic needs met. Growing up in Israel and actually moving there in the midst of the Gulf War has taught me about conflict, and created the deepest desire within me to teach and embody conflict without winners: conflict that isn’t war. Conflict where everyone can express themselves and get their basic needs met. Conflict where we can go through a process of compromise to meet even deeper needs, to connect to one another deeper through the conflict rather than shut each other out.

What should our readers know about your business?
Tomer and I co-founded SomaShare this year. It’s an app that provides trauma-informed audio practices, alongside a beautiful community to emotional healing and personal transformation. In just 6 months, our app has had 12,000 downloads, with a super active user base. This is not our first business, and we’ve learned SO many lessons to reach such profound growth in such a short time:
1. A business is a family! Treating your employees, partners, and users as a family is crucial. Our app has been so successful thanks to the practitioners how upload their practices unto the app. These humans are INCREDIBLE! They have been so supportive of our growth and have shared our posts. They have been so excited to co-create this app together. The marketing language we have used from the very start (which we truly mean from the bottom of our hearts) is “welcome to the SomaShare family” – and that is the vibe that makes us so successful!
2. We hired amazing professionals! We invested in the app design and marketing from our own money and it was so worth it. We focused on staying in our Zone of Genius instead of doing everything and anything within the business.
3. We formed amazing relationships with the practitioners on the app and really invested in that – and they actually promoted and continue to promote the app. We are so grateful to them! We feel that we are all together on a common mission to promote healing in the world.
4. Creating boundaries around business – especially because we are life and business partners. We used to spend all of our time talking about business, but creating boundaries around this is crucial!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
– Restaurants: Trilogy Sanctuary, Peace Pies, and Donna Jean – I would take them to beautiful hikes including Palomar Mountain, Mission Trails, and Mt Laguna
– Walk around la jolla and see the beautiful seals of course! Enjoy a swim at the cove, and a walk through Torrey Pines
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to several people: My dear friends Nadine Rohner, Melissa Byers, Natalie Susi, Anna Papaioannou and Veera Korjala, all of whom are fellow business owners and who have been deeply supported of my business growth journey. These are people who I turn to at every opportunity when I am feeling low or stressed. They are my biz survival and thriving community! There are many more amazing souls, but these came to mind in this moment.
I am also incredibly grateful to my family: my mom (who sees me deeply and helps me in difficult moments to come back to my center and my truth), dad (a fellow entrepreneur who always inspires me) and my amazing partner Tomer Yanay-Triner, who is not just my life partner – he’s also my business partner at SomaShare. What we have created has been beyond amazing!
