Meet Malesha Brown | President/Dancer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Malesha Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Malesha, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
We started this process because not only do we love what we do but we also wanted to provide classes and opportunities to our community thats was affordable or free so that the youth in our community could be able to take dance classes or be in a dance crew whether they could afford it or not.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are proud to have been abke to work with many youth in our community, helping them to stay away from drugs, staying out of gangs and staying in school. We are proud to have been able and still able to give them a platform to express themselves in a positive way through the ‘Art of Dance’. We are excited to still be providing this platform for the youth. We have gotten to where we are today by working hard in our craft and being consistant. Its not easy work. We have overcome challenges by simply being ourselves and staying true to our work. We would like the world to know that “We are Inspiration, ‘We are Motivation”, We are The Junkyard Dance Crew.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would of course go to our crews performances. We would go to Balboa Park, Mission Beach and Downtown San Diego. We would eat at many of the good food places in Downtown San Diego. We believe the beaches, seaport village, and the museums are some of the most interesting places.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to shoutout our families for being there for us, supporting us and believing in us. We also would like to shoutout our community for supporting us. And last but not lease GOD for blessing us with our talents.
