We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Matylewicz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Madison, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always been self-motivated and knew I could trust myself when it came to putting in the work needed to start a business. I began to love the idea of building a business around my skillset and allowing it to naturally evolve over time. I had the simple belief that “If I keep working consistently at this one thing, eventually doors will start to open”. Once that happened it was up to me to keep things moving forward. So as long as I worked, the business would work. I could continue to better my skills while also strengthening my own business that I loved.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m very proud of my wedding videography business which has given me the chance to create meaningful films for countless couples around the world. I bring a fresh take on wedding videography while still giving the films that timeless feeling. I’m proud that I can capture these moments and create films that couples can cherish for years to come. Getting to this level of wedding videography was not easy. I took the advice from more experienced members in the industry and wasn’t afraid to ask for critiques. I listened to the feedback and made the changes I thought were necessary to my business. Along the way, I have learned if people are confused about a product they will shy away. So make it easy for people to get in contact with you and book your services. Afterward, it is important to keep them in the loop. Most people do not understand how long it takes to create films and are nieve of the whole process. So, informing them and keeping them updated is necessary, that took me a year to learn. I want the world to know that videography is the best way to capture the world around us. Documenting these moments will help preserve moments, memories, and legacies forever.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Things to do: We are definitely jumping in the water on the first day to kick things off! Then hanging out on the beach to catch up and just enjoy the views. The next day we do an early morning walk around the downtown bay area and grab some coffees. After we head over to the Stone brewery for lunch and some good beers! Then we can head into Pacific Beach to walk around and explore. Dinner has to be at Costa Brava that night which is my favorite restaurant.

Throughout the week we have to see a Padres baseball or Loyal soccer game! This will give you a good feel of the city’s energy. We can also go to K-1 speed for some go-karting or if you want something more chill we can head over to the zoo. I could honestly spend a whole day at the zoo. If you have time for an adventure I say we jump in the trucks and head out to the Anza desert for a camping trip! We could stop on Julian along the way and do one of my favorite hikes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
At a younger age Youtuber & Filmmaker Casey Neistat inspired me to pick up a camera and begin filming. His ‘Do More’ attitude (tattooed on his arm) convinced me that hard work was the only thing separating me from my dreams. Also, my business wouldn’t be what it is today without my brother Jarid Matylewicz. Who continues to lead me through website creation, design, and user experience.
