We had the good fortune of connecting with Mackenzie Madriaga and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mackenzie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My Father. He’s been an artist ever since I was a kid and even though we didn’t end up in the same mediums, his creativity inspires me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would say I’m mostly and portrait and street photographer at the moment. People have always been a source of inspiration for me; I find it in they way their faces move and scrunch and the way they talk with their hands in a conversation. It’s people that helped me get to where I am today, as well.
My teachers in high school encouraged me to enter competitions and shows to get my work out there, and even though there is some rejection, I found an audience and community I people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Coffee Time Crema Coffee
Hat Yai
Washington Park
Chanticleer Point
Bridal Veil Falls
Voicebox Karaoke
Midnight Bar
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother and father for always supporting me and encouraging me.
