Meet Lynn Wyndham Morris | Interior Architect & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynn Wyndham Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynn Wyndham, is there something you believe many others might not?
In the design/build industry, marketing is focused on encouraging clients to keep up with trends. Each year the color of the year is selected and promoted. Clients rush to repaint rooms, buy new fabrics, and change their interiors – whether business or residential – to be sure they are “up to date”. Furniture, cabinet colors, accessories and more are “redesigned“ by manufacturers and people rush to purchase. People are told that their artwork is too low, too high, and their rugs are too small.
That practice is environmentally devastating and not value added for every client. Matching industry trends is never the way to determine how an interior should look and feel. Instead, I encourage the expression of personality, optimize the space plan of every room, and ensure that everything in each space is as functional as it is gorgeous. Does that mean reusing things that are currently not trendy? Yep! Determining a new layout, relocating items to different (locations) positions and giving pieces new life with a refinish, are significantly better for the client and the environment. Opting for individuality and creativity is far better than following conventional design advice.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Since interior environments have a direct impact on our well-being, I encourage clients to rethink remodels, updates, and new construction so their project suits their lifestyle. I guide them to focus on functionality, aesthetics, and individuality instead of faithfully following current trends. It’s not popular to suggest sustainable materials and finishes and encourage quality over quantity, but my fresh and personal approach in setting intentions and establishing goals results in compelling interiors that clients love for a very long time. Lessons learned? It’s OK to think outside the box. Clients love when I am creative and find solutions that work for their budget and desires. My clients are individuals and businesses that value my cutting edge creativity, unique style, and attention to quality and detail.
My service to them goes beyond finding the perfect piece of furniture or selecting all of the right finishes for their home. I up level their relationships, the health and wellness of their environment, and the well being of each person who uses the space by sorting through a world of options and distilling down exactly what’s right for each client.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’re headed for a retreat. Whether it’s a a staycation, travel to a popular city or a trip abroad, we’re going to spend time being with each other. The best time ever will be showing them how much I care about them. We will reminisce and share our dreams. The countryside in Italy, a ski resort in Colorado or a fab B&B on the beach certainly fit the bill. I can set up a great vibe in my guest house so they have a spectacular time! The itinerary:
Start with an awesome shopping trip to get everything we need for a week. Arrange for deliveries and buy flowers!
Pamper and get comfy.
What do they need? What have they been missing? Let’s do it!
We’ll probably go out for a few fab dinners at a sidewalk café and trendy new restaurant then listen to music at a cool venue.
We both love strolling down the street in Telluride, Sydney and Barcelona people watching and taking in the excitement.
Definitely going to spend time hanging out getting cozy and just being together.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely. My dad has had a huge influence on my knowledge base, what I am exposed to, and the development of incredible skills to solve any design/build problem.
