We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucas Costa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucas, how do you think about risk?
Risk is part of any growth process in life. We are at risk in all moments of our lives.

Most people are afraid of failure, of not being able to achieve what they feel called to do. The reason is that it’s hard, and they don’t know if they can endure the darkest moments and keep pushing forward, trusting that it will work out.

Being an employee and climbing the ladder requires growth and involves risks too, but people believe it’s the safer route. Sure, it’s safer, but it’s not safe. At any point, you can be let go—not necessarily because of something you did or didn’t do, but simply because the company needs to cut costs or downsize.

Now, would you rather take risks working on what God has planted in your heart to do, or continue doing something you don’t even enjoy, making someone else rich?

I believe it’s important to approach risk with caution. Plan your steps, but don’t let fear take over. Conquer it and take action. Many things you will figure out along the way.

Personally, I have always preferred the odds and risks of owning a business and reap the rewards of its growth, rather than settling for a yearly salary and investing my time in someone else’s dream.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Master Geek Pool & Spa Services

We are proudly one of the best companies servicing San Diego County. What sets us apart is an easy thing every company should do, we listen to the customer and we make sure they are happy once we are done with our services. We give a damn about it!

Proud of how much we have accomplished in only 7 months being in business, currently with 4 full time employees and not slowing down any time soon.
Excited for 2025! No doubt doubling down on the business and become one of the biggest companies in San Diego (soon to be the biggest)

I keep investing in myself and in the business. I was able to grow the business quite fast because I put everything back into it. Something I wish I had done sooner was to find a mentor or someone that has been or is in a position where I wanna be at, someone that have grown the company to be a multi million dollar business.

It is never easy, the challenges are gonna come regardless of how prepared you are.
Have delayed gratification, do not strip all the money always from the business the moment you see some success, you may need it at the valleys when things are not going too well.
Have grit, faith and perseverance that the bad times are gonna pass and new opportunities and contracts are gonna come.

I keep surrounding myself with good friends that are smarter than me and that elevate me.
Also, keep investing on yourself and in your business. I was able to grow the business quite fast because I put everything back into it.

All things are lessons and I try to find the best in every circumstance.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego – CA

I am not the party type of person so I’ll leave the night life alone.

For sure visit some of the nicest beaches in San Diego.
Pacific Beach walk in the boardwalk, play some volleyball or spike ball with random people.
Sunset Cliffs, watch the sunset and be grateful.
Visit some farmer markets and eat delicious foods from different cultures.
Dinner in a fancy restaurant by the Harbor.

Can’t miss this one, go surfing. If in the winter drive a couple hours and snowboard.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God above all.

My wife for doubling down on me every time

My parents for mentoring me on how to navigate it cautiously

My friends for supporting my dreams and coming along to help build it with encouragement, knowledge and partnership
