Meet Lords of the Satellite | Band

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lords of the Satellite and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lords of the Satellite, why did you pursue a creative career?
If the question is “Why do we make music?” it’s because we don’t have a choice. We each have something inside of us that we have to get out and, as friends and musicians, we find a way to do that together through our music. Even if Kurt and Jow don’t speak to one specific member for weeks or months at a time due to some stupid disagreement, we know the music ultimately finds a way and we will never stop creating.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Each of us has a very unique music personality. We are not actively trying to do something different. But by the sheer nature of our individualities, we become something never seen or heard before. What we should be most proud of are the friendships that got us here. What makes this difficult is the passion we each have for our band and our art and setting aside petty differences for the larger cause, which is our friendships. When our friendship is solid and we’re having fun, that is when we make our best music.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ocean Beach, Old Town. We love San Diego all around. The venues we listed earlier are some of our favorite places.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our parents, siblings and children. Our wives Jennifer and Monica who are so supportive of us. Emily Bartell for giving us so many opportunities to perform. 91x for throwing us on the radio a few times. The San Diego Music Awards for honoring us with the Best New Artist Award in 2022. Navajo Live, The Holding Company, Music Box and The Good Bar for letting us play so many shows. Covid-19 for locking us in the studio for a year (we need another pandemic actually to have time to write the new album faster). Caleb Linden for our artwork. Our fellow artists who we love playing shows with: Sara Jade, Nathan Raney, Riston Diggs, The Gravities. Our music studio San Diego Music Factory, Jow and Kurt’s side project Across Andreta, from which Lords of the Satellite was born (and is still making new music, check it out!). And of course all our dear friends and fans who came to countless shows to support us. We love you all
