Meet Lian Price | Fitness Coach & App Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lian Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lian, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I launched the first fitness app where one can choose their workout based on their mood. This was predicated on the research findings that our emotions essentially fuel the actions we choose to take. We feel something, and so we act on it. However in the fitness industry, we are largely instructed to suppress our emotions in favor of a “no pain no gain” mentality or “Just do it” motto. But what if we actually chose to honor our current feelings, and therefore to choose workout routines that reflect and respect this? Would this create greater levels of consistency over time? This is what I set about to explore and hopefully prove with this app.

What should our readers know about your business?
Well, I’ve been a certified master trainer, fitness, fat loss and nutrition coach for the last 15 years. I currently hold 8 certifications.
I’ve run my own business for the last 12 years, am the founder of The L3 Method: a private coaching experience that helps women lose 12-25 lbs. and get super fit, and the 1st mood-based fitness app.
Throughout my career I’ve competed in 7 bikini competitions, multiple obstacle course races and half-marathons, participated in a 10 day fast in the desert, underwent 2 spinal surgeries and 2 years ago I also intentionally gained 18 lbs. of body fat to gain a better understanding of how my clients felt along their fitness and weight loss journeys.
I credit the outlier aspect of these experiences for helping to shape my practice into what it is today, and identify the various emotions, limiting self-beliefs and other road blocks that inevitably pop up along one’s path towards become their fittest, healthiest self.
My passion for what I do has been unwavering and I feel so lucky each day to have a career that I love so much.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I would start by driving them straight up the coast from the airport to a short but scenic hike, like the Mushroom Caves/Annie’s Canyon or Torrey Pines. I would be sure pver the course of that week to take them to many different beaches here in San Diego as well, since they all have such different personalities. We would like check out a different neighborhood each night for dinner – Del Mar, Little Italy, Encinitas, Point Loma, Carlsbad, Old Town, La Jolla, University Heights. Then we’d likely go check out the museums in Balboa Park, do some paddle boarding around the boat docks downtown and if it was summertime, hit up a drum circle in OB. 🙂
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ah! Great question. I want to acknowledge and give credit to The Presence Process by Michael Brown, quite possibly one of the most influential books I’ve ever read and modalities I have ever undertaken.
