We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Leslie Desrosiers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Leslie, what do you attribute your success to?
I feel like I have been successful because of integrity and “personal touch” that shows my customers that I truly care about them. I have always said that I want every one of my patients to feel like they are my only patient. They will never slip through the cracks or feel like a number. From scheduling extra time and communicating by text in-between sessions, to personalizing the music and offering fresh-brewed coffee, I try to make my patients feel comfortable and special through every session. For my virtual clients, I send handwritten notes and free shirts. I offer personalized support and extra trainings as needed because I truly want them to succeed. The personal touch comes quite naturally to me because I genuinely care about helping my patients and clients have a positive experience working with me so they achieve the lifestyle of their dreams.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Absolutely.  As an expert in sports injuries and rehab, I have two sides to my business.  On one side, I help people recover from injuries and get back to doing the sports and activities that they love.  This is primarily through hands-on treatments in my clinic.  On the other side, I help people protect their bodies and prevent injuries by becoming stronger, more resilient, and more aware of their movements.  This preventative training is done primarily through an online program that I developed, ACL Strong.  While my PT practice was growing, I knew I could help more people avoid injuries in the first place through preventative training.  I started creating a simple program that would help athletes avoid a devastating torn ACL.  The program really took off and I began selling it as an online course to people all over the world.  ACL Strong now has a course for competitive youth athletes in soccer, basketball, etc. (Classic Course) so they can learn how to properly strengthen around their knees and move/land better so they avoid a season-ending injury.  We also have a course for snow-skiers and snowboarders (Snow Course) to prepare for the season and save their knees so they can ski or ride for more years.  The Snow Course is endorsed by the National Ski Patrol, the Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI), and is being adopted by many ski resort employees across the country.  The pandemic has certainly been a speedbump for my business, but I will continue helping people using my expertise and I’m excited about the future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of our favorite places to go in San Diego is out on our boat in Mission Bay. We would find a spot on the beach to enjoy the water and soak up the sun. We might cruise over to the Barefoot Bar & Grill at Paradise Point to grab a bite, have a drink, and listen to live music. We would also play beach volleyball at Ponto State Beach or Dog Beach, before heading over to Chandlers for sunset, or one of the many craft breweries in North County, like Stone Brewery. We would also visit some wineries to sample the local wines and stunning views. There’s no doubt that we would have a fun-filled week here in beautiful San Diego!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give special recognition to my husband, Patrick, for supporting me in my entrepreneurial endeavors. He has stood by me 100%, supporting my ideas and being my rock. Like a true hero, he opens a bottle of wine to celebrate a successful day, or takes over kid-duty if I need time to work when he gets home. There is no way I would be where I am without him. I am able to work from home and help our two daughters through “distance learning” during this covid pandemic. I am grateful to Patrick beyond words.
