We had the good fortune of connecting with Leila Offner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leila, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
My most difficult and scariest decision I had to make is quitting my W-2 jobs. I was working for multiple employers while growing my business and when I got busy enough to where I had to make a decision to quit my W-2 jobs It was scary because I had to solely rely on myself. If I didn’t work I didn’t make money and I was my own boss so I really had to hold myself accountable.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of Precious Petcare, the largest pet sitting business in San Diego. We offer personalized services dedicated to your pets and offer dog walking, pet sitting, cat visits, doggie daycare, dog boarding, in home care, wedding pet attendant services and even have our own dog bus to pick & drop off the pups! I am so proud of the growth we have established in the last few years thanks to my amazing team. It was definitely a slow start for me since I had no money in the beginning for advertising nor marketing. It was just me pet sitting for people and working off of word of mouth. It wasn’t until my 3rd year that I hired one helper and then took another 2 years to hire another. By year 7 I had a bigger team and now I have all together 20 pet sitters! It really was all about consistency, dedication and building relationships with people. When you’re passionate about what you do you live, breathe and talk about It. You just get known for that one thing and for me It was Leila the dog person that eventually became Leila who takes care of all pets!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not from San Diego either but moved here in 2008 so I have my family and friends who come visit me often. I love exploring and taking them to new restaurants but I really enjoy taking visitors to Farmer’s Markets to show them all the local art & crafts and foods. Other hidden spots are the Gliderport in La Jolla that has a stunning view and great place to picnic, Mount Soledad National Veterans Memorial for 360 degree view of the City and Torrey Pines State Reserve for a nice hike. If they bring they’re dog I like taking them to the OB dog beach or Coronado dog beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My loving and supporting family, friends and haters who thought my idea was nonsense and that I would never be successful doing what I do.
