We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Alvarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would say having systems in place on the back-end and great communication has been key to my success. Without all of your systems in place, it’s impossible to keep up with growth. Knock those out as early as you can! As far as communication goes, it’s crazy how you can set yourself apart from your competitors by just replying quickly to an email! People want to feel heard and have their issues resolved of quickly.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a private photo editor! In short, I partner with photographers to edit their photos! My business gives busy photographers time to do more things that they love. Editing can take SO much time and when you’re always shooting sessions and running a business, it’s easy to get behind. Lauren Alvarez Editing Co. helps photographers return their energy to their art!

I am so proud that I’ve been able to create this business while staying home with my son! He is the most important thing to me so being able to help support our family while still being “mom” is so rewarding.

I was raised in a family of entrepreneurs so I’d say business is sort of in my blood! I’ve always been taught of the advantages of working for yourself. I’ve had other business ventures here and there but Lauren Alvarez Editing Co. has been the one that has taken off and stuck.

If you have a business idea – go for it. Just try it and see if it’s the right thing for you! It might not be, but on the other hand it might be one of the best things you ever do!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Eats – Hakwers (my fav asian street food), Mojo tacos (in St. Augustine but the BEST shrimp tacos), Orsay (higher end delish food)

Drinks – Hoptinger (rooftop bar with a super chill vibe), Blacksheep (fancier rooftop restaurant and bar), Ice Plant (super aesthetic with specialty drinks and a distillery that you can take a tour of down stairs)

Things to do – Beach (of course), Silent Disco (at Root Down bar), Cummer Museum (gorgeous museum with gardens that overlook the river), White Lion (only go here if you want a dive bar scene with dancing lol. But it’s a fun time with a group of your girlfriends!), go watch a Jumbo shrimp or Jaguars game, take electric scooters around the city!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Katie Rivera from the Photo Editors Guide was a HUGE help when it came to making the back end of my business run as smoothly as it does now. I was an editor for a few months when I found her and looking back, I know I couldn’t have grown to the level I am now without her help!
