Meet Kuhteeuh | DJ / Producer/ Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kuhteeuh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kuhteeuh, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to start my own business, ever since I remember. When I was little, I knew that I wanted to be a business owner, but I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Since I did gymnastics for a really long time I thought I would open up my own gymnastics place. When I got out of high school, I never thought about opening a gymnastics place again just because I didn’t even do the sport anymore. I went to college at San Francisco State University, and I got my degree in communications and marketing. I never really wanted a job to work for someone else, but I knew that I could use my degree for owning my own business and as something to fall back on, just in case. I started my DJ business when I was in college, and it was just some thing that I really loved to do. After I graduated college, it was 2019 and we went into lockdown for the pandemic, and I ended up reading a bunch of books on financial literacy. I learned that there is just so much more opportunity in starting my own business versus working for a business. On top of that, there would be so much more freedom for me to do artistic, creative, and adventurous things and that would make me truly happy. Of course I still have my DJ business and I learned how to produce music. This creative business is definitely a passion project of mine, and I would spend time doing it even if I didn’t get paid. I love being artistic and creating music and things. I also have a bunch of other businesses now where I sell things on Amazon, I invest, I take courses on whatever I think is going to help me, and I do things that will make me the happiest.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most proud of everything I’ve learned, how far I’ve come, and that I progress everyday. I keep expanding my creativeness, learning new skills, letting myself play around with new ideas, and adapt to new situations that come my way. The creative side for me is easy because I love it so much. It’s fun. The performances are amazing and what I always wanted to be doing. I never had any challenges with those two things. The financial side is more difficult. I overcome new challenges everyday. Sometimes I try and I fail and I learn and I grow. Sometimes I succeed, and it’s really exciting when I succeed. I feel like I’m succeeding more over time, which makes me really happy. One lesson I’ve learned recently is to spend more time on the things that I’m successful at and love, and less time fixing things that don’t matter as much. I would want the world to know that I’m a girl that just loves to be artistic, create and entertain in every aspect of my life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in the Bay Area, so if a friend was visiting here, I would take them for a night out in San Francisco, probably a rave. I would take them to the beach the next day. We could eat at a bunch of beach places with beach views. I would take them on a long nature hike, maybe a waterfall hike or a forest hike. We could eat wherever is in the area that looks cute and has good food. I would take them to Grizzly Peak and Twin Peaks which are both scenic views that you can drive up to and look over the Bay Area. It’s super pretty. Then I would take them to some desert hot springs because why not? We live so close to the desert and what other state gets this kind of climate diversity? I think it’s cool. I also would love to take them to a few rooftop bars in the city or next to the beach. We could go rooftop bar hopping. These are all things we could also do in Los Angeles. If I were in Los Angeles, I would definitely take them to the arts district and the fashion district where we could walk around for the day and take cool photos. I would most likely leave a day unplanned, if we had a week, to give us some flexibility and random adventures.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, I would love to shoutout every person who’s ever supported me. Every person that comes to my shows, every person that buys my products, every person that listens to my music, every person who follows me on social media and music platforms. This wouldn’t be possible without you. I would also love to shoutout my manager Todd & Hastati Music Network for helping me through the music industry. My music mentor Sector Bass deserves a big shoutout for teaching me so much. And last but not least, all of my friends and family and silent supporters who are cheering me on from their own home, even if they don’t take particular interest in what I’m doing. You’re still putting good energy out there!
