We had the good fortune of connecting with Krysta Hughes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krysta, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success is my relationships with others. By others I mean every single person I interact with. The way I treat my family, friends, clients, partners, and others weighs heavily on my success because if I am not treating those people with kindness, respect, and patience then it will negatively impact my relationships. Without healthy and strong relationships in my life I recognize it would make running a business much more difficult. The key to any relationship is making sure that the people involved feel valued and heard. I believe I try to do that in all my relationships, especially when it comes to my clients. I strive to have the best relationship with my clients because if they feel good after interacting with me, then they will come back, better yet, they will tell their friends about me. It’s very gratifying to hear that I was referred by another client and to hear that they had a great experience.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a first generation Mexican-American to obtain a Masters degree in my family. I come from a hard working family and I learned to work hard for everything I have. I think that what sets me apart from others is my resiliency, it’s the obstacles and challenges in my life that have led me to where I am today. I was raised by a single mother that lost everything she had worked very hard to make to come back and build it all up again from nothing, bigger and stronger. My family survived losing our 1st home, being homeless, and being separated. We survived and continue to learn and grow. The lessons I have learned along the way is to be grateful, be grateful for what you have now because it can all be gone tomorrow. I learned to value my family and loved ones, and I learned to never stop. Never stop moving forward, you can’t let anyone or anything stop you from accomplishing your goals. I give credit to my mom and her incredible drive to be successful in my passion to also keep working constantly towards my success.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Barrio Logan and Downtown Chula Vista! We need to go to Salud! and try a Chicali taco or a Queso birria taco! Yum! Then we would walk across the street to Border X to have some local craft beer, my favorite Horchata stout! If it’s Tuesday we definitely need to stay and play a game of Loteria hosted by Viejo Lowbo, Anahuac and Analy. Then we can walk around Chicano Park and look at the amazing murals. Next we would go to Third Ave in Chula Vista and check out Chula Vista Brewery, Third Avenue Ale House, and Tavern at the Vogue! It’s San Diego, anywhere we go will be bomb!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes! A huge shout out to Familia Loteria aka DJ Viejo Lowbo, Anahuac, and Analy for introducing me to Border X Brewing, Mujeres Brew House, Thorn Brewing, and many other amazing businesses and people in Barrio Logan. Anahuac believed in me and my products and introduced them to a HUGE Loteria community and they were very well accepted and am very grateful for that. DJ Viejo Lowbo gave me the opportunity to share my passion for community and event organizing to put together various popup events. Super huge shout out to Wellington Jr. for being an amazing artist and friend. Together with Wellington Jr. and Paulina we will be working together to bring a new concept of community to San Diego. We are looking forward to introducing our new concept this year, so stay tuned!
