We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristine Baker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristine, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always been a creative so to speak, pretty much making things with my hands my whole life! Thankfully, I was raised with parents that encouraged my talents. So at some point in my beer hobby journey, it became natural to create items that would show off my love of craft beer. Nobody was really making anything for the female beer drinker just yet.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Unfortunately, due to Covid in early 2020, I was let go and decided to retire from my brewery gig, which I do miss very much. However, this was the opportunity I needed to fill our little web shop with many more fun new items! Online shopping has really blown up, and I am thankful to be very busy with a rewarding home based business now. Soon we will get back to our monthly meetups and events in brewery’s. This was always the mission of the Women’s Craft Beer Collective, to provide a safe place for women to feel welcome and included while enjoying and learning about craft beer!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We might be able to visit all the breweries in San Diego and North SD County in a week, but I doubt it! Definitely some musts are Stave & Nail, Northern Pine, Burgeon Beer, Rouleur Brewing, Pure Brewing, Culture Brewing and Resident Brewing. Obviously we would grab some beer-to-go and hit the beach on many of the days, weather permitting! Some of my favorite spots for food and drink are Viewpoint, Firefly Eatery and Bar, Lola 55, Crack Shack and the locals favorite, Board and Brew!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The breweries that hired me on to serve beer to customers definitely deserve a shoutout! They are where I honed my beer knowledge, but where I also got a better understanding of how the female beer consumer feels and what products they are attracted to. Thank you to Black Market Brewing in Temecula California, and Culture Brewing Co. in Solana Beach California.
